If it weren’t for Boyd Epley and his “strength” program, Osborne would be a footnote in college football history.
They consistently managed to get tall skinny dudes to bulk about like 50-60 pounds in raw muscle to become earth movers in the trenches.

Boyd Epley was the king of “diet”. He made a mean trenbologne sandwich

That would have been a kick azz year to see both. Ever see Megadeth or Slayer? Saw Megadeth at the TN theater in late 90s. Slayer twice 99 and 02.

I don’t know if anyone here cares, but I saw Sunn O))) put on a 2.5 hr show at the Tennessee several years ago. The sound was amazing and my insides shook for weeks afterwards. It was both brutal and mesmerizing. I can’t believe the building didn’t collapse half way through. I will never see anything that heavy again.

Does it matter what level we’ve cheated at? Either we’ve done it or we havent. And for the record I think that Nick Saban is a far more ethical leader of men than Phil Fulmer or Butch Jones. He’s also a better football coach than both of them combined. I’m so excited for Heupel and think that great things are ahead. Tennessee brought everything that’s happened in the last 20 years on ourselves. It’s not because Nick Saban cheated. I don’t like the man but if he had come to Tennessee in 2007 I would have relished every one of those titles.
Those ethics were on full display as he, with a straight face, defended a player who hit a girl. I know I'd want my son to learn at his feet, especially if I had a daughter.

Also, a question...with the addition of Tony Mitchell, who topped out at 140mph evading the cops...how many players has he had now who've been arrested for selling drugs and carrying weapons...stolen weapons, i may add? Go listen to him spew forth copious amounts of ethics as he defended Cam Robinson for such.

Edit: InVOL'd

There was much wringing of hands from the mods regarding the OL on last night’s VQ chat. Something to keep an eye on — not that we didn’t realize we might take a step back there.
I listened to that also but I keep remembering how they aren’t coaches for a reason. They always talk up a few guys who never mount to anything each year in the past. Plus they only see x amount of minutes a practice

As a football coach the man knew what he was doing. Almost every year in the top 10 in scoring offense. Dynamic ahead of his time play caller. Awesome guy as well. Still kicking at 86

Put Dr Osborne at Bama and I guarantee you they’d have been historic there. He’s tremendous. So much consistency, I’d understand why a few in here still have hurt feelings over the Vols getting absolutely smashed to pieces but sometimes you gotta hand it to coaches that get it done. Majors choked for years. Fulmer choked consistently. That’s part reason why UT has 1 championship in 50 years. Content with Mark Richt level of success while rivals are going for it all and winning championships like candy

I admittedly do not keep up with other team's rosters--- Who do we play this season where there has been some sizeable turnover

or portal action? I saw where SC lost a bunch to the portal... they still have some talent, but not what they did last year, and any

new talent is frosh... What about FL and Mizz? Is FL in truly as bad a shape as some say, or do we just not want them to be any

good and overlooking some talent? My biggest question would be A&M... they stunk last season but they still do have a lot of

talent on their roster... good enough to sneak in and pull an upset? What's their QB situation?

SEC teams with the most portal additions (and thus assumed the most turnover) as of July

Ole Miss (21)
Arkansas (20)
Auburn (19)
LSU (14)
Kentucky (13)
Miss State (13)
South Carolina (12)
Texas A&M (12)
Florida (11)
Missouri (11)

Tennessee (9)
Vandy (6)
Bama (5)
Georgia (3)

Bold = we play

A polar bear walks into a bar and says to the bartender “I’ll have a rum …………………. and coke.”
The bartender asks, “What’s with the big pause?”
The bear shrugs. “I was born with them.”
That was unbearable.

Descartes walks into a bar. Bartender asks him if he wants a beer. He replies, "I think not".

And disappears.
