Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

CP has 40 lbs on him. That's relatively small. And it's not like he's a freshman who will be adding a ton of weight. You really saying that VP is in the upper half of weight for SEC WRs?

Edit he's the smallest WR on the team.

I guess I don't really consider long lanky WR's to be small. When I think of a "small" receiver, I think of the DeAnthony Arnett types.

Here is something for you all to enjoy. Take a few moments to go back in time. When I watch this and hear each play being called it takes be directly back to where I was and who I was with while watching these games (yes, this is going to show my age). So many good times and I think we are getting back on track for many more. Enjoy and Go Vols!

I watched many games on the radio thanks to John Ward.

For his hands, not his ability to make people miss or for leaving a trail of defenders behind him and making them look like they're wearing bricks for shoes.

He did make our best defender look silly after catching the ball one time in spring practice. He could be very special.

Say you're an NFL GM and you have to take 1 player on team 118 to draft, of any age. Who are you taking? I'm taking Marquez North. In North I see Dez Bryant without the attitude.

North, with no hesitation. Kid is young but already a freak in the making. If he can stay healthy he'll have a long and productive career in college and go on to make a lot of money in the league.

I can't wait to see Jalen Hurd in action. We haven't had a top RB since Arian Foster. From all accounts from spring practice. Hurd looks as good as advertised.

No doubt, and I believe Hurd is much more dynamic than Foster. Foster was solid, could make the right reads, and had a good career. It sounds like Hurd could run you over or outrun you. It's exciting to get dynamic RB's again.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Six more walk-on players have apparently moved on as Tennessee’s roster undergoes a typical post-spring evolution.

The following walk-ons are no longer listed on the official roster: Offensive lineman John Simcox, a third-year sophomore from Kingsport; punter/kicker Ryan Ault, a third-year sophomore from Brentwood; linebacker Logan Cavendar, a Tennessee Tech transfer from Fairview; running back Chris Beck, a native of Austell, Ga., and transfer from Dean College in Franklin, Mass; defensive back Devin Williams, a redshirt freshman from Austin-East in Knoxville; and tight end Greg Tisho, a redshirt freshman from Cherokee, N.C.

My initial thoughts go to North or Malone with a lean toward Malone. I just think he is going to be big time.

I think if I was drafting for NFL team though and Cam Sutton is as good as we think he is and will continue to be then I would have to choose Cam since its much harder to find a lock down corner than it is a WR.

This thread has me thinking way too positively about our potential this year. So many upgrades but sooo young.

Man that was awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'm a little too young to have experienced a lot of his great calls. I definitely have vivid memories of hearing him when I was a kid. Tennessee football was just the absolute bees knees back then. It still is for me. But back then I couldn't even imagine a world where we weren't the best. It didn't even exist for me for so many years. It's a shame that right around the time I got old enough to really start obsessing over the Vols, we started going downhill.

Butch being the right man means a lot to us dedicated mid 20's fans. We have all learned how to deal with losses. I'm not sure I even know how to carry myself after a huge win. Before when I was younger, it was like a "Yeah, I told you so (whew)" kinda feeling. Winning now is going to be different I think. Sweeter hopefully.

Here's to good times ahead :toast:

And my answer for the NFL question would have to be Marquez North. Elite receivers are hard to find and can transform an offense. I think North has the chance to be Julio Jones kind of special. Obviously not there yet. But it's on the table for him if he works hard enough. Not a lot of receivers can say that.

Nice...sure does take you back. I loved listening to his calls. Some great memories growing up :)
