Which part means so little? These decisions have a fairly substantial impact on the entire university system which is something that means a great deal to a lot of people.

I think he meant in the grand scheme of life, football is just a game

100+ thousand for a fifa match would generate a ton of money for the AD. Not sure how that’s dumb.

Because the AD won't spend it to make us better. We already rank among the top revenue schools in the country and no where near the top of the list in spending....

Definitely not attacking YOU brother. You are one of my favorite posters. I think everyone is just wound up right now with no end in sight. It's tough to get excited about ANYTHING right now. The product on the field stinks, any true Vol fan feels terrible for the seniors on this team, and Currie won't even come out and say CBJ is going to be gone, let alone fire him.

Currie is very focused on the stadium renovations. He doesn't like being asked about CBJ or the coaching search. Donors are testy, and he likes that even less.

And he has softened his stance on winning championships. He was asked about it, and he said something about having to look at a season a game at a time and not focus on winning championships until the end of the season. He kept circling back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to give fans a better experience. Somebody said "Winning championships would do that." His response was to shift the topic back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to expedite renovations to make it a better venue for fans. He was asked about #EmptyNeyland, and he talked about stadium renovations making Neyland a place fans would want to come.

The man is obsessed with stadium renovations and milking donors for more money to renovate more quickly than originally planned.

No way he is this stupid. Just no way.

Nothing's really changed on the coaching search. We'll still approach the big names, but we were never going to be able to poach sitting coaches who'd rather be elsewhere. It's never been about money for most of those top-tier names. If Mullen is willing to make a move, we'll probably make him a solid offer; if not, we'll move on to the next guy on the list. No need to be depressed yet.

And in the grand scheme of things, football impacts everything here because of how the university system is structured.

It impacts the financial health of the university, affects jobs, affects academics, affects everything within the UT system.

UT needs football to do well.

How does he get these boosters who beaver claims are aligned on a great coach to pay for said stadium without a great coach? Didn't the initiative pass today?

There’s other exhibition matches and different events that are played. There’s nothing wrong with making Neyland nicer. It’s a dump on the inside lol. Just because gate 21 has bricks on the outside doesn’t make the stadium nice.

I'm very aware of exhibitions but those don't bring in 100k in a market like Knoxville, or even Nashville on a consistent basis. It's certainly would be a horrible ROI.

And it's a college football stadium. Keep it structurally safe and clean by all means, but those numbers are exorbitant.

Yeah it is just a game, but it is a thread that is woven into the fabric of my life...like watching the Sugar Vols beat the hell out of Miami with one of my best friends who died many years ago, or listening to John Ward on Saturdays with my granddad as a young boy in Chattanooga...or..watching the National Championship with my stepdad who is wasting away...or going to Neyland for the first time with my pappaw..it is just a stupid game, but it is not JUST a game.

So you leaning towards Mullen?

The concern I have is how far down the list we'd get.

You can't honestly believe that an international friendly or some other exhibition match will draw anywhere near 100k in Knoxville. They'd be lucky to get half of that no matter how nice the stadium is.

So you leaning towards Mullen?

I think Patterson, Petersen, Fisher, Fuente, Gundy, Whittingham and Shaw are probably happy where they are, so Mullen looks to be the best P5 HC realistically available. Can't see us considering Petrino or Leach.
