I didn't say that Currie said the goal was no longer winning championships; I just said that it seemed like he had softened his stance. He took an aggressive stance back in the summer, saying that UT football wasn't winning enough and we expect to always win championships at UT. Today, he said that we need to look at it a game at a time and think about championships at the end of the season. He also talked about winning championships in the future like we have in the past. His take felt different to me, so I posted it.

No need to spin it to be something darker or more dire than what it was.

You look at our situation vs Florida's and I know all I need to about his drive for Championships.

Swain has seemed very confident all day. Saying big coaches are coming to us now, early basically saying a deal is in place unless it fall through

I think Patterson, Petersen, Fisher, Fuente, Gundy, Whittingham and Shaw are probably happy where they are, so Mullen looks to be the best P5 HC realistically available. Can't see us considering Petrino or Leach.

You guys had it right two threads ago. Which is usually where we end up, back at the beginning. Hope you were all right and we were all wrong on Frost.
Crosses fingers and makes vol sign on other hand

Currie is very focused on the stadium renovations. He doesn't like being asked about CBJ or the coaching search. Donors are testy, and he likes that even less.

And he has softened his stance on winning championships. He was asked about it, and he said something about having to look at a season a game at a time and not focus on winning championships until the end of the season. He kept circling back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to give fans a better experience. Somebody said "Winning championships would do that." His response was to shift the topic back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to expedite renovations to make it a better venue for fans. He was asked about #EmptyNeyland, and he talked about stadium renovations making Neyland a place fans would want to come.

The man is obsessed with stadium renovations and milking donors for more money to renovate more quickly than originally planned.

FTR, wasn’t the meeting supposed to be about stadium renovations in the first place?

Why would you expect him to completely change the topic of the meeting? lol

If was just a general meeting, I can understand the outrage. But otherwise this just reeks of freshman snowflakes showing up to a lecture they disagree with and trying to shout down the speakers lol

I wouldn't mind Dino depending on if he could bring a solid defensive staff. And I'd worry about his recruiting.

Tbh I’m not worried about anyone recruiting here. Any halfway charismatic coach or with a track record and they will have no problem bringing in players.

Except it was successful businessmen.

We are screwed and until Haslam and other failed leaders are gone, it will continue. If only we could have hired Noland and Blackburn- what would things look like today? No, Haslam had to back door his chosen guy who would do and say whatever he is told by his damn puppet master. But hey we have a kick ass stadium!

Nah, the UTAD's stock line should by default be: "The standard at Tennessee should ve SEC and National Titles. I won't be saitisfied until we're back to that standard." Even if you don't mean it, why would you say anything else? What is the value in equivocating?

I know he was talking about the stadium. He could have rattled off the above line followed by "and we think this stadium renovation is an important step to getting us back." Who would have opposed this?

That is a huuuge assumption. We don't need just players, we need stars to really compete. Dino could probably do ok on the Offensive side selling his success to WRs and QBs, but what about RBs and OL? What about on the defensive side? Like I said, he would have to go big on D assistant staff to really hold his own.

Freshman snowflakes? Are you under the impression that freshmen bankroll stadium renovations?

Just go look at Dabo's swinney' recruiting before the national title. Was boarderline at best top 10

They aren't similar situations. He wasn't let go because because he didn't do better than SEC east. He was let go because they didn't like him, he was similar to Butch when it came to press conferences. And he never improved the offense, at all, that is what he was brought in to do.

You're corect. They weren't similar situations. There was a much stronger case to keep Mac around than Butch.

Uhmm..when you posted that earlier you were mad as hell..why are you vacillating?

Actually, I was paraphrasing what he said, as best I could remember it. And then I clarified because some were already starting to take it and escalate in a different direction. I'm not mad as hell. Wrong adjective.

Btw LA Vol, thanks for filling in for LWS tonight. It's been a while since we've heard from him, and I was starting to get a bit too optimistic.

(Just in case it's not apparent, I'm being facetious.)

Well then I guess I completely took you the wrong way, but it wasn't just me..What adjective would you use?
