Made sense until Kiffin. Then stopped reading.

We are not that guy in college that would always take back that girl that cheated on him. Things are bad but we are not that guy.

Yeah, I gave the like before I read the Kiffin thing. DO NOT WANT>

I checked out the poll in the FF. I didn't vote but i noticed that out of some 900 votes Kiffin has a slim lead. I considered the negatives being NCAA issues not the fact that he left for USC. I'm also figuring he's been rehabbed enough for a slim majority of our fanbase. :)

This is why we can't have nice things. Because we are stupid.

I've never been so apathetic about Tennessee football. It's going to take a top tier hire for me to fully buy in again. Swear being a Tennessee fan takes years off your life.

This is where I am. I am emotionally indifferent to the possibility our first 8 loss season, for example. The thought bothered me a few weeks ago but seems par for the course to me now.

A weak hire and I’m out. Of course, will watch the games next year. But little else.

One major take away from the Gruden rumors of 2017 is that some segment of boosters has utilized the fan base, and social media as a leverage tool. There is only one booster I see as brash enough and feverish enough about football to fuel that trend. Slick move even if it motivates Curry to hire someone like Frost so he can have his own agenda.

I do think Currie has played it relatively well by calling the bet repeatedly. He can get the Boosters to continue to raise the pot on their own without showing his hand. Just hope he doesn't leave us all out to dry when the river comes.

I talked with Involuntary about this yesterday evening. This was the plan the boosters put together from the beginning. Put the massive deal together for Gruden; bring in many influential and well known VFLs; threaten the powers that be who make the decisions, that if they do not take the deal, then a humongous buttload of booster money will stop flowing to the university (therefore, all of these projects cannot occur); lastly, use VFLs, who are active in social media, and connections to the boosters to get on social media and message boards to post certain info that puts huge amounts of pressure on the decision makers to take the deal for Gruden. Has anyone noticed Haynesworth has specifically called out 2 people by name on Twitter? First, he thanked Big Jim for making a decision to make TN great again...maybe he had made the decision, or maybe the boosters wanted Big Jim to feel the pressure that if he didn’t choose to let this deal happen, then he will be the one that a huge fanbase will spit vitriol at. Next, Haynesworth called out the president yday...why? To put pressure on him to accept this deal. It’s why MIT knew VFLs would be tweeting messages, because this was all part of the plan. Of course, there’s a lot more to all of this, but people in this forum don’t care or believe it, so I won’t share.

I believe your post 100%. Clear to me something orchestrated is going down. But I’m highly skeptical that it works. Would love a connected media source to come out and say he thinks it’s possible. For now the beat writers are steering very clear of it or outright denying it. The plan should include winning some of them over.

Maybe this is b.s. but color me fascinated.

Lol at this MIT beaver guy. “Important meeting being held this week” and then people go and dig up some meetings to be the evidence that he is legit.

I am now convinced this guy is Coasty and Boro’s creation.

Same exact tricks and people are lapping it up.

They don’t need to win the beat writers over. They have one media source doing it now...a former VFL, Swain. The fanbase knows him...a lot of the fans outside this board could care less what Hubbs says most likely. Many may not even know him, but when these fans see tweets from Swain and Haynesworth, they start thinking this is real and the buzz grows wings. It may not work, but that pressure and the bigger thing of a huge amount of boosters threatening to pull their donations is what is driving this thing to get done. The boosters know the university needs their money to undertake all of these projects, especially the Neyland renovations. It takes more money than what the power players, like the Haslams can donate, to get these projects done. All of the boosters donating 6 and 7 figures are needed. Atlanta Vol said there are 59 or so boosters who donate 7+ figures...only a very few of those are Haslams and maybe a couple others who may disagree with a big hire like Gruden. Take even 40 of those away, and that’s over $40 million not accessible for projects. The less influential boosters have had enough and banded together to form a major power play. It’s why MIT knows everything that’s going to happen, because he’s been informed of the plan to broadcast pieces here to put pressure. He is 100% confident, because he knows the university needs this booster money to do the things they have planned to do.

There is way too much specific info out there to not believe this is actually real. The question is is the plan bulletproof this time, or does the powers that be try to call the bluff of all of those involved in this power play? We will see when the new HC is announced.

I don’t think he is. The poster that intrigues me even more is Bubba. Go ahead and laugh, but he has had an account here for 10 years, yet didn’t start posting until recently. Why? I think he’s one of the pressure players that the boosters want to leak small amounts of info to put pressure on the decision makers.

None of this may happen, but some of you don’t need to look down your noses at others who think it’s real this time. I’ll still believe it when he’s at the podium, but there’s way too much info out there to not believe this has legs this time.

It’s the same info from 5 years ago.

“Pay attention to some meetings happening this week” Lol. That’s the dead giveaway this guy is making it up.

The BOT meeting to discuss what? A contract for a football coach before they fired the current one. This guy isn’t even that good of a troll and people are falling for it.

Also, any kind of plan that involves Albert Haynesworth is laughable. Come on man. That guy is reading Volnation and tweeting it out there. Even if Albert did know something him tweeting about it would only hurt it.

No way. Not meaning insult to either of them, but his early info was way too detailed and sophisticated.

I’m not looking down my nose at anyone. I wanted to believe back in 2012.

I don’t doubt we are making a run at Gruden. This beaver guy is a troll though. You can take that to the bank.

Ding ding ding

Still think people are falling for the same act from 2012. It’s all fun of course, but there are people that really believe it and expectations are set for a coach that when it isn’t Gruden will be a let down no matter what.

I got caught up on it last time, this time I’m not buying it.

They're saying they're not talking about the BOT meeting.

I have been neutral on the whole Gruden thing this time. Wait and see approach.

Just hope we don’t put all our eggs in that basket and miss a guy like Frost.

Matt Campbell is showing he might be worth the huge buyout to me. $9 million could be spread over 4 years. If people are claiming money isn’t an issue that guy is proving himself each week.

I don't give a damn about the process or behind the scenes, at the end of the day. Like everyone else, the hire is the only thing that matters. You bring in someone cheap and underwhelming, my Saturday's are simply free. Alot of people are on this edge. I'm a working man and can easily put the 1000s of dollars I spend per year on UT football into retirement and let it grow or maybe go on a vacation 😎

Make it right UT.
