I think Lawson had a much bigger role in this program than people think.

You advocated firing him. Due to the injuries. And then his successor. But more towards your post, the S&C coach was important? Hell you say! :w00t:

I am an attorney but do criminal defense. However, I don't believe the job has to be publicly "open."

I’ve wiped with better parchment in my Mom’s basement toilet than that rag your diploma’s printed on!

My guess is the rumors of Gruden agreeing and signing MOU are legit and that’s going to start leaking. Currie can’t keep it quiet any longer. So it’s time to move on from Butch and announce Gruden. If Butch does resign tomorrow look for Gruden announced very soon after. BOOM!

Hey Ron - can you ask Hubbs a question on TOS?

I'm under the impression the NCAA would require that Gruden resign from MNF/ESPN shows before he could be offficially named a head coach anywhere in the NCAA. I was wondering if Hubbs might speak to that. I think I remember reading or hearing at one time it could be considered an impermissable recruiting advantage. I don't remember where I got that information and I don't know if it is accurate. I'd tried to research it but I haven't found anything definitive.

On November 17, 2011, Eleven Warriors reported that Meyer would become the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Meyer denied the report publicly. Meyer then asked ESPN to be taken off assignment during the weekend of the Ohio State–Michigan game, adding more to the speculations that he might be named the next head coach of Ohio State. On November 28, WBNS Columbus, confirmed that Meyer had accepted the job as Ohio State's head football coach, and was introduced as head coach later that night.

Meyer's initial contract had an effective start date of November 28, 2011 but clearly there was already an agreement. The contract wasn't signed until June 2012 so up until that point I figure they would have been operating under an MOU. (Btw, every major contract on the projects I've been a part of have begun using an MOU and a LNTP (limited notice to proceed) as a convenience to getting the project moving while we work out the remaining details).

If as speculated now, UT has an MOU in place with JG, either or even both parties may have interest in "keeping it quite" until such time as it is more convenient to establish an effective contractual start date.

So obviously, if my thinking is correct, ESPN will report on it first - as I think the Beaver posted in one of his now deleted posts. I'm pretty sure if ESPN reports that JG is stepping down from MNF/ESPN to pursure other opportunities this site will crash and unfortunately it may take weeks to get it back to a sustained online status. Freak will need mice on steroids to keep those servers running.

All that matters is what he took over.

Truth can be found on both sides of the debate. He took over a disaster, and righted the ship overnight. But there was apparently enough talent on the roster to allow the quick turnaround.

There...now we can be friends again.

Go Vols.

Really strange that things went this way. His MO the first couple years was a tough, disciplined team that lacked talent.

He started doubting the people around him. Got rid of trusted people, micromanaged, swayed to the players, and slowly lost it.
