Yeah, what...two years in a row now?

I know some issues cannot be fixed overnight, or even in one season, but it does make me wonder if our rock star S&C coach is as good as some thought.

Just wondering out loud.

Rock isn't the common denominator between those 2 years.

Hey Ron - can you ask Hubbs a question on TOS?

I'm under the impression the NCAA would require that Gruden resign from MNF/ESPN shows before he could be offficially named a head coach anywhere in the NCAA. I was wondering if Hubbs might speak to that. I think I remember reading or hearing at one time it could be considered an impermissable recruiting advantage. I don't remember where I got that information and I don't know if it is accurate. I'd tried to research it but I haven't found anything definitive.

Meyer's initial contract had an effective start date of November 28, 2011 but clearly there was already an agreement. The contract wasn't signed until June 2012 so up until that point I figure they would have been operating under an MOU. (Btw, every major contract on the projects I've been a part of have begun using an MOU and a LNTP (limited notice to proceed) as a convenience to getting the project moving while we work out the remaining details).

If as speculated now, UT has an MOU in place with JG, either or even both parties may have interest in "keeping it quite" until such time as it is more convenient to establish an effective contractual start date.

So obviously, if my thinking is correct, ESPN will report on it first - as I think the Beaver posted in one of his now deleted posts. I'm pretty sure if ESPN reports that JG is stepping down from MNF/ESPN to pursure other opportunities this site will crash and unfortunately it may take weeks to get it back to a sustained online status. Freak will need mice on steroids to keep those servers running.

Why would he have to be removed from MNF?

Plenty of examples of coaches working broadcast while being employed especially in basketball.

Players have to buy in and have to follow his lead and command. I'd talk is true about Butch letting them do whatever, then Rock has no power at all.

Appreciate the info from you and Jimmy. I had heard rumors, but nothing to hang my hat on. Last night, I was looking at an injury report for UT, and the numbers just floored me. Then I got to thinking about it, and realized that we were in similar straits last year. Which led to me questioning why we seem to be so injury-prone.

Thanks for the info. I know it's a "Pigpile on Butch" right now, and I'm sure some of that is earned, and some is probablly not. Hard to separate fact from fiction. At least for me. It's clear that the program, as a whole, is dysfunctional right now. Sad.

Go Vols.

You advocated firing him. Due to the injuries. And then his successor. But more towards your post, the S&C coach was important? Hell you say! :w00t:

It's been reported that we have been slacking in the weight room for 3 years.

They haven’t since Lawson left. Sure you have certain guys that bust their arses but as a team no. And you can just look at our guys and tell. Remember when fulmer was here and you would here about various players breaking bench, squat, etc records... that hasn’t happened in a long time.

So it seems like what we are really lacking is a leader

It’s easy to pile on butch and take the “everything comes back to him bc he’s the head coach” approach but these are P5 atheletes. They shouldn’t need to be babysat. It’s a whole culture thing that started with Dooley. The year we went up to Milligan for camp...all accountability went out the window.

I remember the summer before the 15 season seeing all kinds of vidoes of guys doing lifts with crazy amounts of weight and they had the whe team around them cheering them on and now we are down to if the guys want to the lift which is ridiculous
