If Currie is truly like how he has been described, then no one in the AD outside a person or two knows what is happening. There is certainly some smoke again.

Ergen has earned a reputation as a results-oriented businessman who once said, “When you deal with change, you have a couple choices: You can lead it and make the rules, or you can be a fast follower or you can be a slow follower.”

The Ergens have supported UT Athletics and entrepreneurship efforts. They fund the Ergen Professorship in the Haslam College of Business and also support an MBA fellowship.

“Throughout the years, the generous financial support from the Ergens has greatly contributed to our success in recruiting some of our top MBA students,” says Donna Potts, director of student recruitment and admissions at the Haslam College.


Could be that all of this is just a big sham. I still say that if it is, whomever is behind it is very good and has lots of time a resources.

Or it could be that the AD lookouts that lurk here are getting very uncomfortable with all of the leaks and how close people here are coming to exposing this thing, that they sent DP in with that for riot control.

Who knows. If its not Gruden, it better be the next BIGGEST thing, whoever that is, is all im saying.

I don't know if there is anything to the Gruden deal, and I'm sure Deerpark has some connections. However, he is over there acting like he broke the news about UT switching to Nike when in reality he was still saying we would never leave adidas right up until it was announced.

If not the Grude, as long as Currie is convinced Mullen has the fire to go after it here, he is my nex choice. I bet we get Schiano. Yuck.

Honestly, gun to my head, my guess would be Mullen. The timing just seems right to me for some reason.

I hope Shiano is the next choice after Gruden, Fuente, Mullen or any other sitting successful power 5 coach. He would take the job in a heart beat and if that is the "worst" hire we can make then I feel really good about it.

I'm all for Mullen. Those gloves tho. We gotta include in his contract that he can't wear those gloves on the sidelines. I just can't. It bothers me.

The whole thing is kind of strange. If I were him, I would have said my piece and got out. But he's spent a bunch of posts defending himself on various unrelated matters. Is he normally so insecure about message board posts?

IMO Beav is a well educated HS buddy of someone well connected with UT, not named Ergen. The buddy is Bubba, and they were joy riding on VN with reasonably good intel and used Ergen as a cover for their activities. If you paid attention beav didn't deploy Ergen's name until very late after posters had already fabricated this elaborate cover for him through conjecture.

If you read my posts as soon as beav started claiming MBB type status and connections to Ergen, I said doubtful. Ergen is not UT FB obsessed guy and is rumored to be tight as hell with even his most loyal employees. All that said the guy that I believe is behind all this is and has been playing this like only he, and his progeny could.
