100% agree. Good post.

I do agree that pro sports towns can siphon off some support. That makes some CFB programs have more bandwagon fans in those towns. But I think there is some misreading of Vol fans going on here. I have lived in a handful of other states and went to games at other programs, many of which are in the SEC along with the B12, ACC and B10. Vol fans are tops for supporting their program when down long term, IMO.

How on earth can anyone in this thread claim that our fans are clean and innocent here?

Hell we have posters here wanting our team to lose, our AD to be fired and opening pushing a campaign asking fans to boycott the games?


Surely we can all agree we have a faction of fans that plain ignorant and vocal in a way that hurts the program

There's a massive difference between "a faction" and "most Vol fans."

sure but again after 10 years of bad football and now it looks like the worst season in a looking time. I think it's people channeling those ten years of frustration, rivals winning and with uga winning at a high level, here we are. nothing. there are a faction that are stupid. no doubt. but the alternative is visual apathy and for a long period of time.

I do agree though that we have a faction that hurts the program as does everyone else. Difference is that ours is much louder and has a much larger presence on social media.

Played a tough away game with them last year and won on a miracle. They took a huge step forward and we took a huge step back.

I don’t blame vol fans at all or being upset with the current state under butch or with Dooley. I think my biggest gripe was over the petition to hire Pearl. That was an awful look for our program. I’m just worried that people are so in love with Gruden that I think anyone other than him is gonna be automatically in a hole just bc their name isn’t Gruden.

I also think Currie is in that same boat right now. He wasn’t Blackburn or Fulmer (the fan favorites) and he has don’t nothing but great things so far. He brought back the LVs, Execured a baseball search beautifully that looks like he made a great hire. He (and Bev) stopped a lot of out sourcing that should’ve never been thought about. And people are already calling for his head bc he hasn’t fired butch yet. So have people really given him a fair chance?

I can buy that although I do think most are hard to please. They just aren't as vocal in a public manner as the fridge fools.

I think if we won 10 regular season games the city of knoxville would have a permanent smile on its face.

Socia Media makes things 100x worse I’ll abree with that. It makes the minority seem like a majority.
