vol twitter is one of the most embarrassing things in sports.

It's not just us. Some account associated with the Dodgers sent out a tweet minutes after game 7 ended last week. I noticed that it already had nearly 200 comments after about 5 minutes. The vitriol was strong. Nothing positive. Bashing players. Bashing Roberts.

It's not just us.

I think the silence is deafening on Butch from the players. I don't see them rallying for him. I think he's run his course with them or we would hear more support from them for him.

Because they probably know the decision has been made. As Shoop said, they aren't stupid.

For a lame duck coach, the effort is there. Just not a good team.

Even then I would expect a team that respected their coach to say "we want to finish strong for coach" but I have seen one quote like that

Yeah, after losing the WS game 7 you're going to have fans go all in on the negative.

We have the same thing on a random Tuesday in the month April.

Ok. Not following what that has to do with fans acting a fool

Ok. I’ll connect the dots for you. Fans are acting a fool because they have zero faith in our AD to pull us out of this decade of mediocrity. The fans are tired of the program being the laughing stock, not only of the conference, but of college football.

We are known perpetually as the fan base that says next year is our year. We rally behind no name coaches that get hired in the hopes that they pan out.

Before you get to the winning at a high level consistently is hard argument, I can name at least 20+ programs who do every year.

Our fans are living the definition of insanity from the AD. Hire up and comer, rally behind them, fire coach, look for next up and comer. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Meanwhile the Bamas, tOSUs, the Clemsons, the Penn States (who just exited from the freaking death penalty), the Wisconsins (really), and about 15 other programs consistently enjoy more success. And our fans shouldn’t be pissed off? Shouldn’t be delusional hoping that for once the AD doesn’t screw it up?

Get over yourself.

Kinda wonder if they have circled the wagons and have chosen to remain silent.

I only know one player (his girlfriend and mine are good friends) and he won't come out and say anything outright but he makes a lot of comments that lead you to believe it's a split house in the locker room.

And the same ones from the tweet I described will still be b!tching in the middle of January.

Compared to someone that is indifferent, we get a stronger image of the magnitude of things that we closely monitor.

Now, I can appreciate that my comments may be sympathetic to "Vol Twitter." That's not necessarily the case. I think it's embarrassing...just don't think it's of the magnitude that some on here assume.

Ok. For me the actions of AD doesn't give fans the right to behave in a harmful way to the program. There are ways to critical without being harmful. JMO

Agree for sure. I know this will show my age but if I ever see my adult kids talking/tweeting out that trash speaking to people like that, my boot would be in their rears.

If their parents saw how they act on social media they would be ashamed.

They’re pissed off. I don’t agree with their tactics either but I don’t blame them for their anger.

Fair enough but most vol fans are simply impossible to please.

Most is inaccurate. Listen to Bama fans who are very much the same. It is a vocal FEW. However, the last decade has been so comical the number of true dedicated and passionate fans have wandered close to the line of apathy. Then you see SATURDAY night. This fan base as a whole should be applauded not taken for granted. So far no poison trees. With the comment of most being impossible to please may mean you have been around the complex too long. :)

The only part you missed on. He can't. It's in his DNA.

All the rest of it is exactly how the vast majority of people I talk to, some of whom do not even care about football, see how UT has handled things. UT execs have been atrocious for over a decade. Clueless and tone deaf to what they should be about and the value of the product to the state and region.
