Frost hasn’t accomplished anything of note at the college level.

I would say winning a SB shows you have a little bit of coaching talent. Much more than being 7-0 in the AAC imo

College coaching is a different job. It's so much less about football than NFL

I agree with the previous poster stating he doesn’t think Frost turns down UF and Nebraska for UT.

Florida is the better job and Nebraska will always have the pull being his Alma mater.

I don't think UF is the better job. Worst facilities in the SEC, clearly no support for a back to back division winning coach. Even some of the UF media have been saying UF is not a good job.

Less but still mostly about football.

HC isn't handling academic side. HC needs to be able to relate to the kids, obviously, but they're spending more time with position coaches, S&C, advisors, etc.

Florida is a better job that Tennessee but it's not by a wide margin. Their facilities aren't as good and they just fired a guy in his third year after he won the east his first two. I could see a lot of coaches, hopefully Frost being one, perhaps choosing Tennessee over Florida.

I don't think it is. Meyer wouldn't have left if it were that great. Amd they're the only school without an indoor practice facility in the league. With no plans to upgrade.

Which coaches would you, to varying degrees, be happy with?

I’m hoping next coach comes from this list....

Gruden
Frost
Mullen
Patterson
Jimbo
Chip
Fuente

As we sit here today these are the guys that would really excite me. Some more than others.

I know I crap all over the Gruden rumors but if we were to somehow pull it off it would be the most boss hire ever and my confidence in UT would be restored even if the hire ended up not working out perfectly.

Frost loves his staff, I would offer him 4-4.5 mil and a 5.5 mil staff budget so he can pay his guys

I'm afraid there will be little we can do to hold off Florida. If I'm UT, I am looking at Frost 50 x's more than Gruden.

It’s really not. If you can coach, you’ll be successful in college.

If you’re a SB winning coach, I think you could be wildly successful in college.

Agreed. So why should we break the bank?

We would be competing against UCF not Florida in that case. Hope that makes sense

I’m not sure that it would make any difference if we are competing against UF because they would do the same thing.

I don’t think it’s a given he leaves UCF either. He was very patient waiting for a HC job that he really liked the first go around. He won’t leave unless it’s the perfect situation that he wants.

It would be easier to win, but he has mentioned how he needs the right athletes to run his system. If he doesn’t think he can get those athletes to Nebraska then he won’t go, IMO.

But he quarterbacked a NC winning Nebraska team that DID get the athletes, which came after Osborne refocused on bringing speed into the program. So he knows it can be done and he’s uniquely primed with his Florida connections to do it more rapidly.

I am talking about assistant coaching salary pool. If Frost would bring most of his UCF staff then we should be able to get out cheap in that area.

Florida is the better job and it’s not really even close.

Everyone keeps touting the East titles, but what’s the eye test tell you? The last 2 years Mac has rolled out some pretty terrible teams. Fans, administrators, and prospective coaches see that.

Now that there’s a legit team in the East, the rest of us are getting exposed, Mac included.

Why would Charlie Strong be better at Tennessee than Texas? He's not going to have lower expectations or pressure at Tennessee. Probably wasn't a good fit the first time and probably still not a good fit, IMO.

That’s what I answered in my 2nd to last post. The money UCF is raising to keep Frost isn’t for him, it’s for his assistants. So if you are UT you come in and say XX amount of money is the money pool for your assistants. Frost wants his assistants paid well. We could get away cheap in that area or we can leverage more money in that area to convince Frost for his current and future staff.
