Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to cause someone to turn down the job because of that. Just my thinking.

If you’re going into the job worried about your buyout if you get canned, probably not the man for a big time job like that.

That's a totally reasonable and fair response.

Depends. I could see Frost liking our current roster better and not liking the way UF handled the Mac situation. I could also see Frost wanting to stay in the hotbed of Florida for recruiting. He waited for the UCF position because he knew he could get the athletes from Florida and win. The one thing I do feel most strongly about, regardless of how much pull his heart may have for Nebraska, I don’t think he goes there. He mentioned in an article how hard it was to recruit to Oregon. Nebraska would be much worse.

Yeah but Nebraska doesn't play in the SEC. Hell, since Butch has been here he's 3-0 against the Big 10. It might be a lot easier for Frost to consistently win 9 or 10 games a year at Nebraska than it would to do the same at an SEC school. jmo.

One advantage in this year's landscape for the FL job vs us could be that the 2 powers this year, GA & Bama, are on our schedule every year. FL just has GA every year and FL has won 12 of the last 13 against us - regardless of who their coach was.

Campbells buyout is overblown IMO.

He makes just over 2mil. Double his salary by paying him 4mil. Over the course of 5 years after paying his buyout it is no different than paying another coach 6 million which is reasonable to think it would take to get Mullen, Fuente or any other established coach,

In other words your are paying a hefty buyout but younate getting a bargain on salary which even things out MC.

Well, if the obsession is to pay market value, there is going to be real resistance to that.

Wait, did we just disagree on something without freaking out on each other?

I agree but even at 5 mil salary it makes some Sense if he is THE GUY. I firmly believe Currie and the boosters are going to make $ a non issue

I understand most of these points but it’s just hard for me to see him turning down the Florida job, if offered.

Arguably the best job in the country and he barely has to move zip codes. Already has the recruiting inroads and will have all the resources at his disposal to win as big as he wants to.

That’s the million dollar question. My only rebuttal is him coming to UT won’t mean that he loses those in roads. He can recruit the Florida area almost as easily from the UT. If he likes UT situation better then that might be enough. We will find out at the end of the season.

No, it's not. I just don't see them encountering any real consequence due to it.

Now quick, can someone just say I'm right?

You’re right! Now go get lucky.

FWIW, I don’t think UF will get much push back from that stunt either. They should, but they won’t.

I could see offering Frost 4-6M, and Mullen 6-8M. JMO.

Frost probably 4-4.25 IMO. May take 5+ to hire him in a bidding war. Not sure UT overpays for an up and comer. Mullen? Maybe 5-5.5 IMO. With Mullen I think you're only getting him if he wants out of Starkville. Not so much the $$. I'd be shocked if UT went to 6 on him.

It would be easier to win, but he has mentioned how he needs the right athletes to run his system. If he doesn’t think he can get those athletes to Nebraska then he won’t go, IMO.

Agreed, I’m not sure they offer him. I hope they don’t. I think he would be a thorn in our sides for a long time in Gainesville.

Bring on Coach McGoogle! We might as well get used to hiring a future hated ex coach every 3-5 years. It is the new normal for the UT Vols.

I have a really hard time believing none of our assistants wanted to be able to put "Interim HC at UT" on their resumes. I can believe that maybe they asked a couple and they both said no.

I think the scuttlebutt we've been hearing about a divided staff holds a great deal of truth. There's no other logical explanation as to why a "temporary" move hasn't been made to date.

If this is indeed true, then things are in pretty poor shape. No, let me rephrase that...things are in very bad shape. JMO...

Yep, that is why I gave the range on both. We will start out low and end up on the higher end because of the bidding and negotiations. I personally think Mullen would be our best option and it would take over 7 to get him.

Good grief that sounds outrageous for Mullen.

And IMO there is the problem. Giving Mullen Saban money may not make sense.

Pretty funny coincidences with Matt Campbell and Johnny Majors. Campbell played at Pittsburgh and coaches at Iowa State.

Majors coached at both Pittsburgh and Iowa State.
