Assuming you're a UT football fan, do you want Dorean (or whatever)??

No, I don’t really. But (a) I will support him if he’s the hire and believe he has a chance to be successful here, and (b) I am trying to be realistic about our options at this point.

Mostly I’m just sad to watch this administration be such a joke and then our fans just pile on to make it worse. If Doeren is the hire, realistically you can expect him to, at a minimum, make bowl games every year and avoid the SEC cellar. (And I think he’s got a much higher ceiling than that, but that’s the floor, with general support from fans.) But what’s really sad to me is that it appears increasingly likely that our fans will continue to Chizik every potential coach and we will end up in a death spiral where a guy like Doeren walks into a positively toxic environment and we don’t beat Vandy for 5 years.

I would beg Morris to come right no to keep Doeren from coming. At least he would be exciting. Doeren would suck and be boring.

If we could get marion hobby as DC and bring back Dan Brooks in some role (even as an analyst if he doesnt want to be a full time coach), that would give us an orange flavor.

The baseball hire makes me think this whole sham of a coaching search now is all Haslams. Currie worked in the shadows and had everyone fooled with the baseball hire. And by all accounts, he's a young, hungry, recruiting machine who is putting solid veterans assistants around him.

Why wouldn't Currie follow that pattern here if you can't get a top level coach?

Because someone is dictating Currie, that's why.

Prediction.

If NC State has a coaching opening, they will get a much better coach than UT.

They will upgrade and we will downgrade.

They will probably hire Drinkwitz and lead the ACC in offense. Doeren will retain Larry Scott for continuity.
