He wouldn't have pursued him if hadn't received positive feedback that he would listen. I'm confident he's expressed interest in the past.

But is the interest real or is the kind of interest that gets you an extension and raise at your current school?:thud:

Hmmm. There was a poster that mentioned Petersen had interest in this job in the past. He/she was ridiculed to no end. Made fun of. Laughed at. Scoffed at. Wish I could remember which poster that was.

Somebody who has an In, Volunteer who that was, please.

To those who think Frost is greater than Campbell (or that Campbell should be ignored) I bring over this post: I also want to add -- Campbell has beaten two top five teams this year: Oklahoma and TCU.

Things I didn't know about Campbell

- was a DL at Mount Union D3. Won 3 D3 championships, 2 time AA and 1 time DL of the yr

- longtime OL coach

- turned down job with patriots to be OC/OL coach at MT Union and win d3 championship both years

- after beating Air Force as interim HC at Toledo in bowl game. He turned down Urban Meyer OC at Ohio St to be full time HC at Toledo

- youngest HC in football at Toledo. Got Toledo as high as #20 including beating a Arkansas. 35-15 overall

- yr 2 Iowa st we all have seen what he has down with 3rd and 4th string QBs and a MLB that was the starting QB last yr.

What really stands out to me is that he was a successful DL turned OL coach. He knows both sides of the ball and it shows in how physical his teams are on offense and defense. He understands importance of the Ol/DL which is important for this league.

Scott pioli, belecheck, Urban and herbstriet swear by him.

After looking at his background even more no wonder they do. Winning follows him as a player and a coach

Yep was even his prediction when someone was doing some name your coach and when game

That caught my attention when he said that. He doesn’t do that usually. I’m starting to wonder with his name being mentioned now by Hank, if maybe Currie had been negotiating with him all along, not Gruden. Maybe Currie knew if he trots out Chris Petersen, then using Gruden as a smokescreen is just fine. I’m also wondering if maybe the middle of last week when all of the smoke was boiling about Gruden, that it may have actually been Petersen who signed a MOU to be the next coach here.

IMO, we are getting very close to an announcement. We went through all of the meh names over the last few days. Now, the big names are coming to the front. Makes me think this thing is announced pretty soon. If Peterson, maybe it leaks sometime after the game Saturday or Sunday. Either way, I think we are going to land our white whale. Will be a great time to be a Vol, and this fanbase deserves it!

About 4-5 guys say Gruden signed the contract on November 15th in Tampa.

Now, that would fit with the exact time that all the smoke was at a fever pitch last Wed night. I have said multiple times that I believe that is when it officially happened. We are getting a great coach one or the other. That’s all that will matter.

Surprised there isn't a groundswell in Florida for Mike Gundy.

"Finally man a coach that looks like us!"

" Business up , party in the back . That's the way I live my life and I expect the next Gator coach to exemplify that. I know that is a big word I heard Darrell Waltrip say it at the Daytona 500. Looked it up."

"That's the kinda dude that shows up with a case of Natty Lite and don't mooch."

Man I wish Florida fans were back woods, nascar loving, mullet rocking rednecks like you’re describing. Unfortunately they are mostly carpetbaggers these days.
