That’s the way I read that as well. Mullen hasn’t talked and won’t until after the season.

Prior to Hubbs post I really thought Friday Currie goes and ties up loose ends. Announce Sunday. Not now.

Meanwhile Currie drinking Bloody Marys at the poolside bar.

He has to have his guy already

I think loose ends and signatures occurred last Wednesday. From that point on, Currie has been having fun thinking of ways to divert attention from his whale hire and enjoying vacation.

There's nothing remotely provable about Gruden. People either suspend disbelief and accept outright lies from anonymous sources or they look for the logic and seek to validate claims.

Happy thanksgiving peeps!

I just bagged a nice 8 point, all my family is coming over today, everyone is relatively healthy, and the fridge is stocked with free beer.

Even this vols season can't bring me down.

Have you seen pics of Currie lounging by the pool all afternoon? How do you know he isn't holed up in his hotel that he's turned into a war room?

Completely agree so why hasn't Currie come out and said so. Doesn't really make sense to me

Also I’m sure it’s been discussed to death but what JJ did is absolutely unacceptable. It was dumb for him to lash out like that. But by nature, he is a very emotional player. He made that video in the heat of his emotions. That should’ve been taken into account. I don’t think what he did deserved the retribution he received. Indefinitely suspend him from the team and let him think about what he did. Then let the new coach give him guidelines to earn his spot back.

Monday should be an interesting day. Hopefully I’ll know more from his family’s side of things. His step mom at least has said many time that he needs to grow up.

Wow, over 5000 people on here on thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, gang!! Some of the best TN fans post in this forum, IMO.

I’m thankful for so many things. God has blessed me and my family beyond measure, and I hope and pray we are following Him in the manner that pleases Him.

I’m thankful for a fantastic earthly family, a fantastic church family, and a fantastic Vol family.

A new era is upon TN football. This will be the one where we return back to our glory! We have suffered long enough, and we will be rewarded for our persistence and loyalty. LET US GO! GO VOLS!

Lol.
Tell us again how much he respects his coaches......

Currie's not going to say anything. He said from the outset that he wouldn't speak until he announces a hire. Gruden's not going to speak, either. He said last time that he's not going to quash rumors he didn't start. From his perspective, there's value in having his name out there... as long as it stays positive. If it turns, look for his agent to put out a statement.

We seriously have no idea who our coach will be.

Gruden has not said no. His agent has not said we live in fantasy land. There are legit boosters like ATL who haven't taken away our hope.

There was a lot of noise about Mullen, but now we hear he isn't even talking until after the season.

Larry has been saying Peterson, but he says he hope it is and it's possible.

Patterson was thrown out there.

Lots of noise about Campbell one day and now nobody is talking.

Some people with AD connections think we are getting Frost.

There was noise about Norvell and others but now he is way down the list.

I don’t believe I ever said he respects the coaches. I said he loved Azzani, but he isn’t here anymore. He hated butch, that’s fairly well known and given butch’s background in handling players it’s safe to say butch mishandled another one.

One man's reactionism is another man's decisiveness. You think "insert your favorite coaching candidate" wouldn't have done the same thing to any disgruntled player who did what JJ did?

You’re completely missing the point. You need to slow down and let yourself think about this dispassionately. This could have all been taken care of before the next coach takes over without dismissing him immediately. If Currie just pushes back the timeline on this dismissal a few days, he gets the benefit of the doubt from local and national media as well as some fans who’d be likely to side with JJ anyway. Dismissing him within hours just perpetuates the narrative that our AD is systemically inadequate.

Of course, theoretically “insert coaching candidate” likely would have dismissed him immediately. But right now all we have is a bunch of coaches who (Robert Gillespie notwithstanding) will be coaching at Who Gives a S*** University next season.

That makes sense for Gruden, but it's hard to see what benefit there is for Currie in this particular situation to keep quiet.
