We seriously have no idea who our coach will be.

Gruden has not said no. His agent has not said we live in fantasy land. There are legit boosters like ATL who haven't taken away our hope.

There was a lot of noise about Mullen, but now we hear he isn't even talking until after the season.

Larry has been saying Peterson, but he says he hope it is and it's possible.

Patterson was thrown out there.

Lots of noise about Campbell one day and now nobody is talking.

Some people with AD connections think we are getting Frost.

There was noise about Norvell and others but now he is way down the list.

Bill King
Mark Shalabach
Chris Landry
Chis Lowe
Pat Ford
Josh Newberg
Mark Howard
Greg Pogue
Jared Stillman
Braden and Fitz
Jimmy Hyams
Colin Cowherd

I've heard all of these people not only say that there is 0% that Gruden comes to Tennessee, but have laughed at the thought of it.

You’re completely missing the point. You need to slow down and let yourself think about this dispassionately. This could have all been taken care of before the next coach takes over without dismissing him immediately. If Currie just pushes back the timeline on this dismissal a few days, he gets the benefit of the doubt from local and national media as well as some fans who’d be likely to side with JJ anyway. Dismissing him within hours just perpetuates the narrative that our AD is systemically inadequate.

Of course, theoretically “insert coaching candidate” likely would have dismissed him immediately. But right now all we have is a bunch of coaches who (Robert Gillespie notwithstanding) will be coaching at Who Gives a S*** University next season.

But if any coach anywhere would make the same decision on a given situation, then it doesn't matter who makes the decision and what the timing is. I think it perpetuates the idea that the AD hasn't completely gone off the rails, that they can still make a simple, common sense decision that any other AD would make without floundering around and hesitating.

There's nothing remotely provable about Gruden. People either suspend disbelief and accept outright lies from anonymous sources or they look for the logic and seek to validate claims.

Agree with the "proving" idea. At this point you could apply that to every name that's floated too. Gruden isn't a done deal to me until he's standing at the podium and I still fully believe he is in play.

Currie is either a freaking genius or he's gonna have a PR calamity on his hands. IMO

I don’t believe I ever said he respects the coaches. I said he loved Azzani, but he isn’t here anymore. He hated butch, that’s fairly well known and given butch’s background in handling players it’s safe to say butch mishandled another one.

You were quick to call my claim that he couldn't get along with authority wrong. We know exactly who was wrong now.

I’ve been all about taking the wait and see approach with Currrie and giving him the benefit of the doubt until he proves us wrong.

But he hasn’t done anything in regards to the football program so far to inspire faith. Given what we’ve seen from him so far, I’m expecting to see a Norvell/Bobo type hire somewhere around December 5-10. Will gladly eat crow if I’m wrong, but he’s not projecting competence at this point.

There have been numerous Grumors that are believable, but y’all won’t pay attention and listen to them.

I respect your views here but the Dodd article and McDonough interview seem like death nails to me. I’d need Feldman or ESPN or someone like that to come out and say this could seriously happen (similar to the Kelly/UF talk) for me to believe again. Those sources seem to be shooting it down as being remote or unlikely at the moment.

I think we land at coach mcgoogle. We will see though!

Thanks for the list. Bump material if this happens.

There’s plenty of things that point to it being a possibility.

Sure. Gruden always flirts and some at UT have wanted to consummate the deal for years. I'm just saying there's a big difference between possibilities and presenting pure fabrication as evidence of a done deal.

What have we seen from him so far?

So which is it, do we already have someone (see Frost is one that has been said, Peterson has been said, and of course some still think Gruden), or is Currie really just starting the search tomorrow with Mullen?

Maybe 30 years ago this thinking makes sense.

In the society we live in with social media, it’s a shortsighted way of looking at things.

Also could someone confirm if the talk about Richmond failing his third drug test and Blakely kicked off the team for some problem with a nutritionist?

The fact that you have Jared Stillman listed among those other names makes me discount anything you just said.

He either has his guy or has reached out through back channels to gauge interest and has 4-5 guys that he’s going to start interviewing now.

So I completely didn’t answer your question 😂

What have we seen from him so far?

In regards to football?

Nothing but foot dragging and an unwillingness to reign in ineffective coaches.

If he nails this hire, the perception will change. But given what we’ve seen from him this far and his track record back at KSU, I’m not getting my hopes up.
