You could speak to this better than I could but it seems a lot of the problem with this year's staff is that you had like 4 guys who wanted to be head coach.

The best thing about Fulmer's staffs were that Cutcliffe and Chavis were great coaches that didn't try to overstep. And Fulmer was very good at allowing them to do their own thing and treating them like adults. Butch could never understand that.

100% agree. Part of it was a lot of the dumb practice stuff butch wanted. Between physical Friday’s and Special teams over half the practice... we had terrible practices. Which Hoke has already complained about now. But yea get a good head coach and let them bring whoever the hell they want don’t force some “big name” coordinator on him that’s he’s unfamiliar with or doesn’t trust.

That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while... Ima start holding you to these BS comments... so Norvell, Schiano and bobo/braum would be hitting top 15's ?? Wow, then hey, let's save some money and grab one of them and move on right? So if your savior Mullen comes in we should expect top 10 every year based on your reasoning and math... ? Right? Because according to you he is so much of a better choice right?
You do know we quite possibly go 0-8 this year in conference play right? But yeah, we will still get top 15 recruiting ...

Still think it’s Mullen despite reports.

I told everyone yesterday it was Mullen. Has been for a week. The only thing that made him think for a minute was Fitzgerald going down.

If I had to place a bet it would be on Mullen

I think they met with him this morning.

If he took the offer, I could see an announcement tonight or tomorrow morning with a presser in the afternoon.

At this point I agree he would be my odds on favorite.

What? BSU had 3 1 loss top 15 finishes right before Petersen took over

I'd say it's probably more like 6-6, 10-2, 9-3, 9-3, 10-2. I feel I'm being conservative on the ceiling but pretty fair on the floor.

So losses to UGA and Bama every year, and taking out UF two years and beating the other west and the dregs? You ok with that?

Another thing I like about Mullen, he has been able to hire and integrate new assistants.

He recruits well and most importantly knows how to run a program from what I have seen.

I’m not arguing overall success. Petersen is an elite coach.

People, you included, are concerned about Mullen’s recruiting. Saying you can’t win a championship without top 10 classes right?

If true, I would think you would have concerns about Petersen’s ability to recruit at Tennessee. He has recruited worse than Mullen, at a better program, in a completely different area than Tennessee recruits in his time at Washington.

Looking at his 2017 class, Utah is the furthest East he got a commitment from.

I’ll reiterate, I’m not concerned either would have an issue recruiting at Tennessee.

You are comparing Miss St and Tennessee. He is a proven talent developer.

I want to win national titles but first you have to start winning divisions and going to NY6 bowls consistently.

Yup that’s important when you run a top program cause your assistants will get promotions and HC jobs. How many ocoord has Saban gone through. Mullen has seen his elevated time and time again

There’s been so many egos and bullsh** between our staff members dating back to Dooley. Idc about assistants resumes anymore. I want a staff that is comfortable with each other and works together.

They're homeboys with Jimmy Sexton. Sexton the UT alum would be pleased as punch to make a few hundred thou on a deal that ensured UT will suck for another 5 years.
