When do college ADs ever officially and publicly dismiss specific people as a candidate?

Besides, maybe he's not dismissed him cause he's either still a candidate or he's agreed to a deal already.

I totally agree with you here. However the reason he is a legit candidate in the first place is because our program has led us to believe he is a candidate. Therefore if he isn't they are responsible for leading us on to believe he actually was. I will also say I have never seen a candidate have so much impact on a fan base before either. Gruden literally is the the expectation and anything short of Gruden other than Petersen causes for a disappointment.

The people that believe him to be a legit candidate are no longer just the people in the Gruden thread, it's literally half the fan base.

Two your second point, if he I still a candidate at this point then there is enough there to make the deal happen so Tennessee best do everything that can to secure it. Hopefully he has agreed to the deal and he is announced today.

I really don't think UT itself has led us to believe that Gruden is a candidate, other then Davenport liking a tweet. Remember, this is the woman who put the wrong UT in her tweets. She's a total ditz lol.

I'm going to kick Hubbs in the giblets if he keeps mentioning Schiano.

In this instance, the messenger deserves it. I feel a little bad for Hubbs as he is in new territory. His credibility has taken a hit, but he has been one of the most responsible journalists prior to this. He will bounce back fine.

I’ve become convinced no one knows anything because we are getting turned down left and right. Currie kept this quiet so we fans didn’t have to hear that.

My great hire meter is down to 5%.

I’m just waiting to hear so I can log off of Vol message boards for the last time and get on with my life.

Something has to break this week. Not sure how the ESPN / MNF angle would work out if it's Gruden, but I would think announcement on Tuesday or Wednesday if it's him. No way they announce Gruden on Monday if...if he's still doing the MNF game. Once announced, he would be tied up in interviews, meetings, meet & greets, reviewing recruits, etc. Once announced, it's "All Ahead Flank for UT".

CFP rankings come out Tuesday night, and then it's Championship Week blitz in the media, so again...Tuesday or Wednesday makes most sense.

If not Gruden, and nothing by Wednesday, then we are looking at a HC/OC/DC who still has a game to play this weekend. Or an NFL coach.

So...Monday = Not Gruden or Gruden no longer with ESPN. Tuesday = Gruden or anybody not playing a CC game. Wednesday/Thursday/Friday = Same. Next Sunday = Sitting HC/OC/DC, or NFL coach.

Personally, I think we know something NLT Wednesday. If it is Gruden, I expect ESPN to break it. Probably part of the deal. They need the clicks.

For me, it's Gruden, Petersen, Frost, or Campbell. Or a P5 OC/DC or NFL OC/DC that brings the "wow" factor. Anything less, and UT Football is going to have to prove to me that it's back before I waste any more of my life watching an unwatchable product.

I hope we get it right this time.

Go Vols.

Whoever the coach turns out to be, I actually feel sorry for him. Butch didn't leave him sh*t. Top to bottom, this is no doubt the worst, talentless, soft team I've ever seen.

QB's : Pitiful... JG or McBride shouldn't be SEC QB's
RB : Meh
WR : devoid of talent
OL : bush league

DL : bunch of pushovers
LB : Hardly Div III talent.
DB : Never seen worse

This is a 3 year rebuild, minimum.

Dobbs really was the difference.

Let's face the facts.... Tennessee is basically a collection of talentless players coached by a bunch of talentless coaches. It's going to take awhile to dig out of the sh*thole Butch put us in.

It is bad. It's not this bad. There is some talent. It just has been grossly and criminally under-developed.

Stop being a pu$$y and actually wait for the hire to be announced instead of already proclaiming armageddon.

They may be full of it but they are committed to their cause.

The kids were not told last night.
Not sure what that means.

The last information I had was Monday and Petersen. I haven’t heard anything different but now I’m skeptical at best.

I guess the beat down has me pessimistic. We will find out soon enough

F u. You must support child molesters too

I'm going to assume you haven't seen the movie in a long time. He said that without any true effort to stop the person from making a mistake. That was to the contrary to your assumption of the meaning of the post. nerd

I don’t think Currie was prepared for so many jobs to come open that are comparable (Arkansas) or better (A&M, UCLA, UF). I think he’s having to constantly reset expectations. Just my view of how this is playing out.

If you are a coach looking at a Tennessee, you have to figure you only have about 2 or 3 years before the fans turn on you. Can you turn it around that soon and if not, is the stress worth the millions you will make? Could you make more going somewhere where the expectations are more achievable?

Terrible expectations on his part if true

You assume the worst, work like your hair is on fire and get it done. Can’t dream of what may or may not be
