judging by the comments made by the players last night, it appears they didn't buy in and now realize the error in that. No matter how good of a system or how bad, not buying in is bound to result in this year's performance.

With what he did at Toledo and just having experience as a Power 5 HC, Campbell has a more proven track record than Dooley did, but I get the concern. He could end up being a really good hire, but on the front end he would be a big let-down after all the rumors about bigger names.

His track record is a mixture of Butch and Dooley with a two upsets sprinkled in.

Precisely. Coaching searches aren't just about money anymore. They're about perks (control) and situation. UT is in bad shape right now. It's looking like a rebuild job. Most desirable P5 coaches are just in better situations.

Except those two never sniffed top 5 upsets at lesser schools. Never played to the success that he had as a player. Never were successful Coordinators like he was. Campbell is a better x and o coach than those two.

Agree. Timing is huge in making the right hire. And vision. By all accounts we could have had Patterson in 2008 but we picked kiffin because he was more exciting.

This go I am worried we had this all figured out (excitement again) around the Missouri game but now there are more jobs open than we planned. We are competing with other SEC and non-SEC jobs and now our plan may have fallen apart.
