Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

Mike Griffith said it best today. Everyone has a price. Big targets would be interested at the right price. However, if all we do is call them up and ask them if they want to coach at UT, be prepared to be told no. If you don't take no for an answer you can determine the right candidates price. I guarantee I could be talked into becoming a prostitute tomorrow if the money were right.

Three ADs in a row have been known to take no for an answer and skip right on to a bargain hire. UT can't pick ADs any better than we can pick HCs.

If we signed Gruden, we wouldn't need to pay damages. He'd have been in Knoxville this weekend locking up a top recruiting class and Currie would have never been in Columbus.

If you look at it from a pure who is the best head coach who will come here and has the best chance to bring us back to the top, the answer is Petrino. Mad Hatter might be another option, then (yuck) Kiffin or Norvell. I was never on the Gruden train this time, it just felt to much like 2012. But I did think the money would be there for a Patterson, Frost or possibly Peterson. Boy was I wrong on that one.

Why could not our long suffering fans had been blessed with a Mal Moore and a University administration united in the goal to win at all cost. It is how Alabama finally crushed us for good.

It is being discussed in the Gruden thread that Gruden did sign and we may have to actually pay damages to him because of the agreement that Schiano signed (and may have to now pay him also)- that seems absolutely ridiculous right now but given the last 24 hours I have no idea. Did Bald Biker ever mention if anything was actually signed by Gruden?

Lmao

I Understood for the first time this year that we truly do not have championship aspirations. It was devastating, but the fact is, winning is not the goal here. $$$, power and facilities are.

Ain't that the truth... We are one of the most profitable football schools in the country with a product that sucks a**. Imagine the profits if we won. It's simple math. Those morons running UT do not appreciate what Tennessee Football means to the fans, especially that imbecile that tried to trot out Schiano.

I've always been a sceptic but I'm starting to believe in the Fulmer Curse... Not one thing has gone rights since

I wish we could go back and read the conversation this thread had a month or so ago. It was a civil conversation where a solid number of you had good things to say about Schiano as a Candidate. It was discussed that what he did at Rutgers was similar to Franklin at Vandy and Mullen at MSU. He had much more support than just myself.

THEN this thread fell for the grumors and we found out about Penn state. Funny to see so many here not owning up to initially liking him as a candidate. Now it's malpractice and illegal stuff while the nation laughs at us.

He was always a fourth tier candidate in everyone’s eyes and our dumbass leadership signed him day one out of the gate. Nobody had that guy in their top 6 or 7. He was a ****ty fallback option that nobody ever thought we’d call.

And that was BEFORE most people knew anything about Penn State.

Phenomenal. Jokers were all bought in for Schiano

“This is the man who will placate the masses while we build things.”

Currie's job is to make a hire who represses the fans aspirations. Not to make a hire that's inspirational. The message will be you have no choice but to accept what the powers that be choose to offer you. It's a motif contrary to the spirit of the game which goes hand-in-hand with it's commodification.

How many times must this be said. We were never singing Gruden. NEVER>

You have Gruden interested, the fan base is united in wanting him and you hire Schiano? It's hard to believe, but I don't put anything past these idiots.

My list right now is

Les Miles
Tee Martin

I like Brohm but I don't know if he would come.

I’m not trying to hurt your feelings man. But yes, it’s pathetic to want him back. It’s like the battered wife who wont leave her abusive husband. Stop it and have some self respect.

I agree, and I would not put it past him to turn us down, laugh and post about it, because that's who he is.
