Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

But somehow Peyton was cool signing off on the POS who tried to have his knees taken out a few years back? Seems weird.

I agree, it seems ridiculous, but nothing is suprising me anymore.

If Jimbo is really leaving FSU, offer him the freaking moon.

Bunch of cheap skates when we are publicly recognized as one of the richest programs.

This search has went from 2012 to 2010.

We had grumors 2 resurrected from the 2012 search.

Now we’ve managed to put ourselves in a position to be a job nobody wants like in 2010 and we’ve already called Cutcliffe again so he can tell us no.

On top of that we’ve got Mike Gundy calling again to use us like an ATM which is a UT search mainstay.

So since last night the only coach that it can be confirmed that UT actually talked to was Cut?

Payback time for the Haslams. Go ahead and name your worst fear for a coach and that is indeed who they will trot out. In a couple of weeks of course to fully destroy any chance of salvaging a recruiting class.

One of three things is going to happen

1. The AD will make an underwhelming hire and VN will be panting after Gruden in 3-5 years. (Most likely)

2. The AD gets lucky with an underwhelming hire that greatly overachieves. (Less likely)

3. Realizing they are laughingstocks of college football AD’s, they grow some sack, get serious, and go out and work until a proven big time winner says yes (least likely)

Because...
4. Haslam wins

I’ll eat my hat if #3 happens.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose and
there ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, these are our Vols
We'll fight the powers that be just,
don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

Your pick is condescending,
your gall is never ending
We want a winner not a joker from you
Your hire is trite and jaded, boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

We're right, yeah
We're free, yeah
We'll fight, yeah
You'll see, yeah

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore
We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

No way!

We're right, yeah
We're free, yeah
We'll fight, yeah
You'll see, yeah

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We're in the worst shape in program history, and Tee has never run a program. I'd love to see him come here and full circle us to an NC. But he needs to grow and we need to stabilize. Yes, he could come here and succeed. But it would be a steep learning curve and UT isn't a patient fanbase. Not now. Not after the last decade.

I do think that we would be more patient with Tee than just about anybody else. We were burned by Dooley and Butch, but Tee would bring in all the former players as supporters, fans would love it and it would be like when Johnny came marching home in the 70s. We might be as bad now as we were then and it is a totally different climate, but I do think that we would be more patient. I know that I would. If he can hire a lights out staff, then we could very well be on our way back, at a very slow clip, but on our way back.

Is there anyone else who just doesn’t even care at this point? I think I just want us to hire Tee and be done with it.

We are gonna screw it up because we are going out there with the mindset of not paying over market value even though our position makes it where we would have to pay extra for a good coach. So we are gonna hire a lame for $4m and then end up paying him $20m for 3 years work cause he’s getting fired.

Next coaching rumor will come from Nick.

Currie spotted in Thailand looking for UT's next coach. Nick stops him and tells him football is soccer here. That hot lead for a football coach is a soccer coach John.
On a bright note he had nothing to do with Sandusky.

Pretty much.

"Listen, sir. I know you fully intend to kick me in the man fruit. Every time I see you, you kick me in the man fruit. With all due respect, can we please cut the chit chat this time, and go ahead and deliver a swift kick to my jimmies, which remain completely unrustled to this point?"

Volssam,

We are ready for the next shadow man installment. We are clearly still cursed and we need you to get us out of it. Please.

I would be very supportive of him as a coach. We know he can recruit lights out (and probably a better quality of recruit than Butch got) He needs to surround himself with some really good coordinators to help him-- we got Phil..

I think Les Miles would be safe and I''d be fine with it, bringing Tee home is risky but could be rewarding.

Just caught up on 20 plus pages.

Just like Schiano before, Tee is the only person who keeps showing up on every VQ list. I think that means something. Only name thrown out by Feldman as well.

Sounds like bad news with Brohm.

Please, for the love of God, stop talking about Lane Kiffin. He does not care about you. He does not regret leaving Tennessee. The only think he regrets is being an ******* to everyone in Southern California and getting run off.

This is stupid, but I don't want Pruitt because he's an Alabama Alum.
