There's better OCs out there.
What does Debord have to do with Allen and Richmond? I don't get how he is the key to them. Does he know them somehow? I get he is a oline guy but they Prob don't know who the heck this old guy is
The only way this works out if Butch hires this DeDinosaur is promoting Azzani to Co- OC. What kid would be excited to play under this guy who's been out of coaching for years? So much more talented OC's out there. Really hope Butch makes the right decision. Because this offense is ready to thrive next season...
There is no way a staff member is losing their job

I agree. I don't see many kids being excited to play for Mike Debord esp if they are a kid who can go anywhere else in the nation.
I would bet had you mentioned CMB name 3 years ago ALOT of the board would have said kids TN needs to turn the program around would not wanna play for him. I think the head coach is much more the factor when it comes to kids putting pen to paper. JMO
Considering Bajakian didn't exactly set the world on fire recruiting, not sure what your point is here; recruits mostly care about their position coaches IMO. Recruiting is not why this hire would disappoint me. I mean, the guy doesn't even run the same kind of system Butch likes.

LWS said on Volquest that Debord was big in terms of getting Allen and Richmond. I'm assuming that is the same LWS as here.
If our new OC doesn't have any experience coaching QBs then Sheridan would do just fine. Would they leave him as a GA to do so or would the create a full-time spot. A full-time spot for Sheridan means we would have to eliminate one.
You can't make a hire just to please two recruits. Just like you can't just promote Azzani to keep PW happy. The future of the program is bigger than a couple of recruits in one class.
Another theory: Butch is actually a much better offensive mind (or at least is convinced he is) than any of us give him credit for and is bringing in DeBord to run the exact offense he wants.
Hubbs stated that Butch was fairly hands off with Bajakian calling the plays, but he's not blind. He saw the struggles against UF, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Vandy, etc.
Maybe this is just a move by Butch to gain more control over the offense, while also bringing in a guy who has good qualities of his own (head coaching experience, decades of overall football experience, familiarity with Butch and his system, etc).
I'm not concerned at all about age or image. Let me tell you, if the Vols start averaging over 35 ppg, that will get them excited.
A. Score points
B. Make it fun to watch
C. Recruit well
D. Obtain swagger
Order of importance
B & C order is due to quality recruits all ready on staff. You may disagree
