I'm in a wait and see mode too but when you see other coaches make home run hires, it makes you wonder how serious they are. Butch talks a good game when he makes these hires i.e. "best staff in America" and "phone's blowing up with all these calls". He builds up the fan base to get the fans all ready for a big boom And then he responds with a snap n pop.

Somebody please show me where Basilio is "reporting" anything. It's not on his blog or his Twitter. Is he "reporting" it to his neighbor? Is he on MySpace?

Careless crap is posted on this board all the time. This all because Leb saw a thread title on Volquest.

It's just like the Jimmy Hyams thread on the bball forum. It's twisted bs that people run and post on this board for attention.

So let me get this right. Some fear a mass exodus if Debord is hired?

Even though most of the guys committed weren't deeply involved with Bajakian, most of them are now going to go "Debord?!? Who is this old fossil?! Even though I was pitched and sold on CBJ's organization and system which he'll continue to run, I'm going to restart the recruiting process less than 2 weeks before signing day, dammit. YARRRRRG."

I suppose I never expected a Muschump, Orgeron, Chavis type hire. I figured CBJ would do what he's done thus far. Hire who he knows and play it safe. DeBorg gits that. Not a hire I would have made, but I don't make these decisions. If Butch likes it, gotta roll with it.

I am so disappointed even though I don't know who he or any of these other guys are! I thought he was talking to the UTC guy! Hoping this info is either incorrect or he has been hired for OL and not OC..... Any definitive confirmation???

We're not replacing a recruiter (Bajakian wasn't much of one at all). We're replacing an OC. Recruits would be no more excited about Durden or countless other names and the few really hot/big names that are out there only serve to grab a first look or generate a little bit of initial buzz. Recruits are also far more concerned with their position coaches and the head coach. That said, recruiting is about relationships that are built throughout the recruiting process not simply names - this staff and Butch Jones have proven that. But to give you another example look no further than Nick Chubb.

Going into the process, Chubb wanted to play for South Carolina and Steve Spurrier but his visits and the relationships (actually the lack thereof) killed that plan. Spurrier wasn't even on campus when Nick visited and the lack of relationship building is the reason Nick Chubb didn't choose South Carolina. He was also asked who was the most difficult to turn down. His answer: Butch Jones because of the relationship he had with Jones and the rest of our staff.

If this is the hire, stop panicking and give the guy a chance.

It's not up to a brand new offensive coordinator to close out our recruiting class. Lol. We've got some pretty important coaches with great relationships with all of our commits on staff that have been doing this for a while now.

I'm pretty disappointed in the reaction around here. This is the recruiting forum for goodness sakes! Pull yourselves together.

I wish I could hear it from the horse's mouth why the hell he made such a mind boggling hire, but I'll just have to sit back and trust Butch for now.

Offensive geniuses never let their OC mess with what they do so after these past two years I think it is quite obvious Butch is not one of those offensive geniuses. Thus hiring a puppet OC seems beyond ridiculous. Prove me wrong please Butch.

It's Butch's ship, he sails it to paradise or goes down with it. I've learned that most of the stuff he says is bull sh!t so I fully expected something along this line so I'm not surprised nor disappointed. He really needs to quit pumping up the fans with all this BS talk and just tell the truth.
