Yeah, for all the people who just want to put blind faith in Butch, anyone who wasn't a Bajakian fan (and those people are not small in number) needs to take a step back and realize that they believe Butch's only OC wasn't good. Not a great track record of picking a play caller. (Now obviously if you liked Bajakian then thats irrelevant)He gave it to Bajakian :whistling:
Bajakian is a very good QB coach, and that's what he was hired for. I've not seen anyone questioning that. He saw both Worley and Dobbs improve while he was here. He's got a great track record there. The goal this year was to win a bowl game and we accomplished that. So yeah. I think we got it done.
Also I forgot how much the NFL loves hacks.
I realize how bad they were. But this is how TN works. Always has, always will. Hire on the cheap, fans get exited, more ticket sales, more donations because of the new energy, coach flames out after 3-4 years, coach gets fired, wash rinse repeat.
UTC's AD says CBJ has reached out to their OC Jeff Durden

UT Sports reporting must be really bad if VolNation is getting the scoop before them...

Nothing new today, but here's our most recent look at potential OC candidates ICYMI: Updated Look at Who Could be UT's Next OC | Rocky Top Insider

IMO, he's just a really poor play caller/game planner. But that's not what Tampa hired him to do.
And as someone else said, the NFL hires failing retreads every year. Just because you are hired as an NFL coach doesn't mean you know what you're doing. Dooley is an NFL assistant for crying out loud.
I can tell that you think I'm just BS'ing everyone and I wish I were. This is from the same person that said Henderson was leaving (Hubbs denied at first), Hendrix, Helm and Scott were leaving, Payne was leaving and that Dobbs' redshirt would be pulled when Worley went down.
I'm hoping and praying it was bad info.

It's not up to a brand new offensive coordinator to close out our recruiting class. Lol. We've got some pretty important coaches with great relationships with all of our commits on staff that have been doing this for a while now.
I'm pretty disappointed in the reaction around here. This is the recruiting forum for goodness sakes! Pull yourselves together.
I believe u. who's to say he doesn't come in and mahoney is let go and debord and azzani are co o coordinaters and Sheridan is the new qb coach. Not too bad really. They will be using Butch's playbook. Maybe there will be a few changes bit not much if this happened imo
Best case scenario with DeBord is that we get the same offense as last year with fewer head scratching calls (because Butch steps in) and better OL performance.
Worst case scenario is the offense is exactly the same as last year but with a different variety of head scratching calls.
I don't think the offense will change much either way. Bajakian called the plays, but it was Butch's offense.
I don't think so. Kiffin made under 2. The rest of the staff were handsomely paid but I don't think the whole staff added up to Saban's 5 mil at the time.
Well the head coach is kinda a big deal.
Of course it is. I guess I just don't see the issue. Hire a 600,000 coach who is young, has hair, and can dance, vs a guy for 600,000 with a resume a mile long who is going to do the exact same thing the young guy would..,,run Butchs offense how he wants it run.
