“At the end of the day, I’ve got to prove myself, so that’s what I’m trying to come in and do early —*prove myself to everybody.”

So what's the deal with Young? Were there worries over grades or something? UT and Ok St. both showed an interest late in the game. 247 has him as a 2* (pretty much unranked/unscouted) though that article refers to him as a 3*.

He's got great size and from his tape he looks like he's a thousand times faster than anyone on the field. The speed may be deceptive depending on the HS competition but his vision and cuts looked great.

Just a snippet from a South Carolina message board:

I think he (Spurrier) has a shot to bring it every week unless Butch Jones is on the other side of the field. Then no.

I can't wait until other fanbases feel like this.

It would be positively karmic if Steve Spurrier never beat UT in football again. To deny him something he wants so badly would be sweet.

I honestly want to see Butch thrash the Gamecocks so badly at Neyland this year that he not only skips out on the post-game press conference, but he actually retires on the spot.

Yep, his walking out of that presser last year was epic. Neyland will be rocking this year. SCAR and UF are two games it would pain me greatly to lose.

Didn't camp a lot and his competition wasn't great.

He runs track so the speed is their. If he adds some weight.. he'll be a prototype of Hurd on the physical side. We will have to see how good of a athlete he actually is.

LOL. Which board is that from?

Cockytalk. They seem pretty convinced that Tennessee will probably win the East this year.

Only USC and UK fans give Tennessee/Jones any respect. Vandy fans still swear up and down that he sucks and is the worst coach in the SEC.

In fairness, our own fanbase greatly undersells our own coaches despite the fact that the reality of our situation last year meant simply reaching bowl eligibility took a herculean effort that required replacing both lines and getting a bunch of true freshman and underclassmen to play way above what is normal for players so young. It's hard for a lot of fans to understand when good and even great coaching is on display when the final score or overall W-L column is all they're paying attention to.

However, what's truly strange to me is that Bielema gets respect but Jones doesn't.

Though for a lot of opposing fans the simple reality is that a lot of them are hoping like hell CBJ can't coach because we're starting to get the players we need to be make life harder for many. We still have depth issues but we're getting close and they know it.

This was one bunch formation from the spring game I thought was interesting. I don't recall us running this last year. Could make for some interesting run concepts and play action

He took his previous team to 3 straight Rose Bowls and some Big Ten championships. His current team destroyed Ole Miss and LSU. CBJ will get that kind of respect soon enough, I think.

Careful what you wish for. He is a known quantity to us, old and tired like me. If they have to search for a new coach, they might find a Butch Jones 2.0 then the East will get even tougher. Hope he stays another 10 years and we beat him 10 more in a row.:)
