I agree, that's why I said lucky to win those. I think 6-6 is likely and 5-7 is possible. We lose the next three and the wheels will likely come off.

Agreed. Four SEC losses in a row-- three to rivals-- followed by a trip to UK, a team playing more confidently than we are, could have a very bad outcome.

Better than its been, but not out of the woods. Still paying Dooley and would owe Butch and staff a huge amount after the extension last year. Then would have to pay a whole new staff on top of that. It just isn't happening. Can't afford to yet.

His buyout isn't as bad as Dooley's. Say what you will about Hart, but he's not cool enough to hold on to Butch if he doesn't make a bowl this year.

Discussing it is pointless though, because this team is good enough to make a bowl on skill alone.

Just got home. I think that game may have finally broken me.

At a certain point the heartbreaking losses become so standard that you learn to expect nothing else. I'm not sure who can right this ship, but it's not Butch Jones.

As I and the rest of the Tennessee fans expressed bewilderment at the decision not to go for 2, I could see the ending coming from miles and miles away. And I think, at last, that ending sapped whatever optimism I had left for the staff or the season.

To hear that Jones credited a "chart" for the decision to kick was only more maddening.

The honeymoon is over, obviously, and Jones and his merry band of yes men have no one to blame for that but themselves. No more gimmicks. No more smoky gray uniforms. No more checker Neyland. No more stupid first down chants.

No more bull. We've been fed enough.

It would be hard for a coach to turn down the 2016 roster IMO.

It is infinitely better now than it was in Dec 2012. Playmakers everywhere.

I think Hart should seriously consider pulling the plug on a 6-6 season. That's a 3 game swing based on the talent we have.

I just don't see them coughing up 5 million to buy them out.

No way. You put out feelers starting right now to gauge interest. If a big fish wants to come here, you can Butch over 7-5, let alone 6-6

Wonder what would happen if Hart forced CBJ to make major staff changes, including firing DeBord and several others that CBJ has caravanned around the country? I can't see CBJ agreeing to do that... but then I can't see Hart having the guts to demand it.

Just for the record, do we know it would cost 5 million to buyout this staff? Honestly I'm not sure of the exact numbers. All the articles I could find relating to Butch's extension increased his buyout if HE jumped ship.

The entire offensive staff AND the offense needs to be scrapped.

Jones would walk before he lets that happen IMO

My opinion is yall are dreaming if you think the AD will pull the trigger on Butch this year if goes 6-6 or better. Just can't see that happening.

(Not saying you are wrong for wanting/demanding a change if that happens, I just can't see it happening given where we are and where we have come from, and from a money standpoint).

Dobbs gets ragged on a lot for his passing but these coaches are horrible. No fades, slants, or routes for big WRs. I don't understand this. You handcuff a QB then ask him to make perfect passes when you do let him throw.

It depends on who they could realistically get. Chip Kelly? Absolutely. Fuente if he runs the table at Memphis? Absolutely. Outside of that, I think you keep Butch.

I was told $4 mil for jones. I guess another $1 for staff.

I'm starting to think that might be a good thing. If he walks, we aren't saddled with a big buyout... and are free to explore other options. This certainly isn't the outcome anybody wanted, but some problems aren't fixable. If something isn't working and a coach refuses to make changes or accept that there might be room for improvement, then something's gotta give.

I think they treat him like a high school QB. It's pathetic. He's much better than they are letting him be.

Im a season ticket holder, live in southern Indiana and travel to at least one away game a year, Gainesville this year. Well for the first 50 mins I was all in with this coaching staff again. But for the last 10 mins they have caused me to consider selling my tiks. To much money to see this crap on a regular basis. How many Oklahoma, Florida games is it gonna take for butch to learn how to coach. Say what u want about me questioning his abilities but I spend enough money that I can question them all I want. His coaching sucks and we are again the laughing stock of the sec.
