And the reverse of that is our players won't have the confidence to finish a game. the slightest bit of adversity late will cause them to think " here we go again ".

That's exactly what I thought when UF scored that TD in the 4th qtr. I tried not to think it, but I felt we'd collapse and lose. The players must have felt the same way; you could see it all start to fall apart. At some point, snap and clear won't work.

It's just amazing how this huge and loyal fanbase gets gut punched in new and creative ways every week.

Gators fans are celebrating tonight and secure in the knowledge that despite a scare, they still own the Vols. McElwain will have them rolling soon and they will be back in the mix for the SEC soon enough.

Meanwhile, we want the guy we thought was our savior fired because he was exposed by their new coach. Our future looks very uncertain now, both in terms of immediate wins and losses and even recruiting.

Being a Vols fan sucks sometimes (or, 90% of the time). I love the program, but cheering for these teams isn't fun. It just isn't. I'm too far in to stop, though.

We literally have everything needed to win except a coaching staff.

We complain a lot as a fan base and can be a little wonky at times, but are super loyal to the team. Been getting our hearts ripped out for over a decade now.

I'm pretty sure the buyout is the same for both parties. I guessed at $1mil for the assistants. As to Dooley, we were obviously on a downward spiral. Butch is at least recruiting well and ticket sales are as high as they've been in a long time. And with ticket saLes you have donations. The fallout from this year won't be felt until the next round of season ticket renewals go out next spring. Major boosters would have to buck up before Hart would make a move this year. Jmo

I agree, but also u dont over come 5 million buy out with just one or two boosters in this economy then fire another coach with an extensions to boot.

all this crucifying online wont help anything now.

it is well deserved in my opinion but its not gonna get him fired this year.

Does anyone else think this loss will hurt recruiting? How long can Butch continue to sell his snake oil?

How could it not? CBJ is being pilloried in the media. And what they're saying is true. He's being called out as a bad gameday coach who can't finish games. It will just get worse as our losses mount. His W-L record is already tied with Dooley's.

He will be three games worse by the time the clock hits 0:00 against Bama.

I don't suppose there's any team that would want to hire Butch away? Certainly not in the SEC, but maybe Illinois? Though they've already been Zooked.

I think we're going to take a huge hit in the recruiting game. Also wouldn't be surprised to see some unexpected transfers after the season. I'm already over this season. It seems like we are the South Carolina of last season. They gave up like 3 or 4 big leads in the 4th, just to end up losing. Everybody in the building tonight could see how bad it hurt me. This stubborn BS that Butch is pulling, along with the horrible gametime calls have me ready for a new coach. We are wasting HUGE talent. Btw... Ive been drinking.

Since we are the most predictable team in the SEC. Let's predict what happens this week leading up to gameday.

Butch talks about the youth.
Gotta "learn how to win".
We have a guy get hurt in practice, but it doesnt matter because we dont know how to use him.
We start Jumper... again... for some reason
We land a 3 star recruit that nobody cares about. Probably 2017
We hear that the passing game is fixed, but it doesnt matter because we will just run it.

If you change coaches it has to be a homerun. You would have to have him locked up and ready . We shouldn't have any problem finding such an individual the cupboard is not bare.

Our coaches got exposed this week. Even the media is calling them out and making them look incompetent.

UF is even younger on offense than we are, and they played an inexperienced QB. They had starters suspended and injured and played with less depth than we did. And they still hung in, stepped up and beat us at the end of the game.

The media has been brutal. He will obviously try, but I doubt they will allow him to hide behind coach speak this time.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I hate Chip Kelly. I think he would set us back even further. You think Butch is set in his ways with his system and won't change? What makes you think Chip would be better? Chip is even worse. He has completely ruined the Eagles roster and has been so arrogant about his system it has cost the Eagles at least 4 wins. Everyone in Philly is already tired of Chip and want him gone. I'm by no means an Eagles fan- in fact I enjoy seeing them lose, but even I'm starting to feel bad for them seeing what Chip has done. Besides, Chip to Tennessee would be a pipe dream anyway and it's a good thing for us because he would only set us back.

Yep I can see it. tKJ is already complaining. I am still hoping for 6 wins.

Some guys are college coaches and some are pro coaches. Kelly was a winning CFB coach. What he is doing in the NFL is irrelevant. Saban failed in the NFL, but how has he been in college?

1. We still win 7-8

2. Coaches folded in a different way than Oklahoma game. Yes, it's concerning.

3. Fire Butch talk needs to stop. No way on earth he is gone this year, and next year we should be stronger.

4. Two days ago, we laughed at Chip Kelly report. Now, everyone is all in. Kelly got Oregon in a little trouble with the NCAA over the fake recruiting profiles. He got out of town. I wonder if he could bring probation down the road with more sloppiness in recruiting.

5. Something is so wrong with the passing game, that someone must be held in account... Whether DeBord, ZA, Butch or Mahoney. This simply cannot go on.

6. Not sure what the mental make up is of the team, but "losing" the team is certainly not off of the table. It will be apparent, "Kentucky 2011" if that happens

7. Love Butch, but this little habit of blowing 2 TD leads in the 4th is inexcusable. Once, you can get a pass. Twice in 3 weeks? ... There are issues here.

8. Butch is currently not making good game day decisions. His infallible methodology needs some reexamining.

9. I would not be surprised to see DeBord "retire" at seasons end. If so, Butch better go all in on improving the staff position, not status quo.

10. A lot of growth in this team. Remarkable improvement, except in the passing game. Coaches gotta close it though. It sucks. We are literally 2 plays... And there are 20 to choose from, from being 4-0, and everyone in ecstasy. This is the reality, though

We're definitely not alone in that boat. Auburn, USCe, Arkansas, Mizzou - all of them look putrid.

Auburn, VOLS and Arkansas were picked to have breakout years..

Our consolation prize is that we don't lose by blowouts, we lose in the final play of the game.

Haha...Butch Jones y'all! Butch, you have mentioned numerous times about how great this fan base is in supporting its team...unfortunately, you are about to witness the other side of the most passionate fan base in the country. Sorry bud, but you fully brought it on yourself.

Does anyone think Bajakian left on his own merit last year? I do. I think he wanted to do more with this offense, but Butch won't let him. I will be very interested to see if he gets another OC gig, how well he does calling plays.
