Maybe we will just trade coaches with Arizona.

If you want to say goodbye to defense! I think RR would make a great OC here tho!

And fwiw, and I have zero credibility, check my stats, I don't think CBJ is going anywhere any time soon. Just a hunch.

Florida's going to have to play Tennessee ball this weekend against South Carolina. Del Rio out. Jarrad Davis and Alex Anzalone out. Starting center Dillard is out. CeCe Jefferson is a gametime decision. Starting kick returner Thompson suffered a concussion Saturday.

Butch said this was his dream job when he took it...however, its hard to believe Butchspeak.

I have no doubt that it is his dream job, in type. I highly doubt a guy from the upper Midwest who had no ties whatsoever to Tennessee, or even the SEC, went to bed at night dreaming of coaching the Vols, though.

I can see CBJ leaving to coach in a less demanding conference. IDT he's marketable enough to command a matching salary right now, though.

And our list of injuries make that list look small and insignificant.

I wonder if Butch's marriage and family have suffered way beyond what he envisioned coaching in a program like this. VolinArizona mentioned the recruiting being a hint, but I also wonder if lack of preparation, discipline, focus, etc that we usually don't see with Butch's teams are hints as well. Maybe he's not putting in the time that he once did? This is all speculation btw, and I'm still very thankful he has been our coach for the last 4 years. He was the right man for the job at that time.

Less than zero chance. ND will aim much higher.

They might give Les a look, though.

Ok

Edit: I'll add, Is 2016 Butch, a coach that has increased his win total every year and likely will this year in the toughest conference in the nation, a coach that has rebuilt the roster in 4 years, a coach that has improved the academic standing tremendously (which ND values tremendously), lower than a Cincinnati Brian Kelly?

(Hopefully) Last post I will make about Hurd...

His tweet did nothing for me, just confirmed what I already knew. Yeah, HE wanted to bring UT back to prosperity...just so HE could take credit for it.

The offense wasn't to HIS liking, so HE moved on.

HE suffered injuries this year but HE played through them.

ME first player in a team sport...

Unexpected....

MORE VERNE: Tennessee-Missouri is the CBS game on Nov. 19.

#Vols will have their max allotment of five 3:30 p.m. CBS games this season. First time in … well … a while.

Must not be a whole lot of good games that day. I notice the Florida/SC game is at 12:00 CBS, so not alternate channel.

EDIT: They didn't take the Florida/LSU game? They must love them some VOLS.

Only thing I'll say to that is that the day Pete Carroll left for Seattle, nearly everyone would have said there was a less than zero chance Kiffin would be hired by USC. A number of rejections later though, and mattresses in Knoxville were ablaze.

Notre Dame is precisely that type of job. The Prestige to aim high, but so many negatives that a round of rejections from the top tier is almost likely.

Them opening at -15 tho lol

I've said a few times this season that I think Butch is gone before 2018 due to a firing or leaving on his own when his reputation is still in tact as a good coach.

I am now of the belief it could be before 2017. His recruiting is a hint.

What happens if we win the east and finish with top 10 class?

10/31/16 DL Shy Tuttle Undisclosed out for season

Add Evan Berry to the list as well.

I wonder what Tuttle's injury is? I saw them carrying his jersey even though we've had other season ending injuries. it made me wonder if he is going to be okay next year?

Do coaches really not know the pressure cooker jobs are in the SEC?

Fans and administration don't care about excuses. Results now! Just the way it is.

So the absence of hurd and the OL looks better?
Is that the case?
Is it the opponent?
Is it that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th string RBs want to prove themselves?

What say Ye VolNation?

I'd say you're right. The SEC is different from CMU and Cincy, and CBJ could have underestimated how demanding this conference can be and how hard it is to get ready and grind every week. Not every coach is cut out for a school like UT, where pride and passion run deep. He seems to have become more short-tempered this season and bristles at the slightest criticism. He has become adversarial with the media and that usually backfires.

He made a comment after SCAR, something like "If you want high expectations and criticism, Tennessee is where you come." I agree with you-- I think he's feeling the pressure and it's getting under his skin. If he would be open to bringing in a high-level staff and letting them help him, it could lighten his load, IMO.

Hard to say. Cincinnati Kelly was coming off of taking a non BCS conference team to a BCS bowl, which pretty much means you are going to be the hottest name out there. Not saying it's right, but damn, in the month of September, Tom Herman's only coaching equal was Bill Bellichek, just because it looked like Houston MAY crash the playoff.

OL is what it is. Hurd just wasn't a natural instinctive runner. Everyone wants to say all we had to do was get him going downhill, but he bounced runs to the outside more than AK and JK combined.
