OL is what it is. Hurd just wasn't a natural instinctive runner. Everyone wants to say all we had to do was get him going downhill, but he bounced runs to the outside more than AK and JK combined.

Someone else posted that Kelly's 73 yard touchdown would've been a 3 yarder for Hurd. They're correct. I had no idea how he slipped through there. Fantastic vision and speed.

I wonder what Tuttle's injury is? I saw them carrying his jersey even though we've had other season ending injuries. it made me wonder if he is going to be okay next year?

Didn't they say it was a torn mcl in his right knee?

I'd say you're right. The SEC is different from CMU and Cincy, and CBJ could have underestimated how demanding this conference can be and how hard it is to get ready and grind every week. Not every coach is cut out for a school like UT, where pride and passion run deep. He seems to have become more short-tempered this season and bristles at the slightest criticism. He has become adversarial with the media and that usually backfires.

He made a comment after SCAR, something like "If you want high expectations and criticism, Tennessee is where you come." I agree with you-- I think he's feeling the pressure and it's getting under his skin. If he would be open to bringing in a high-level staff and letting them help him, it could lighten his load, IMO.

He is often very purple. Seriously, I worry about his blood pressure.

Yeah

Butch only needs a splash OC hire. He brings the talent. He just needs to allow an OC to come in and run the O.

Also, LSU Notre Dame and Texas will likely be coach hunting this winter. Not exactly a great time to be in the mix with those guys if you're Tennessee.

the rumor is broken leg again.

Hopefully not the same leg. Hate it for the guy.

Phillips has struggled to get fully healthy too. Seems like he is now, though.

Our stud DLs from the 2015 class are turning out very similar to UF's in 2010.

They had Easley, Floyd, and Powell all in the same class, but only had a few games where all of those guys were healthy at the same time.

Just heard that Oregon may have the most money to offer a new coach, 10M+.

I still think 2018, but 2017 is on the table imo. Just tea leaves stuff, so don't put any weight in my opinion. I'm often confused.

Recruiting has definitely taken a nosedive from where it should be at this point with where we are supposedly headed... Too many high tier kids not interested is a bit alarming at this point since we should be in demand with the upward success.. we weren't even considered before the injury bug hit.... something is going on and no one want to talk about it or no one can really get a handle on it...I for one think it simply comes down to kids seeing this staff is "okay" but not elite, as they are seeing talent not developed properly and used/getting the most out of... Butch must make hard coaching changes to show he is willing to continue to grow and improve the program.

Is Ole Miss imploding and no one noticing? Year 5 of the Hugh Freeze era and they sit at 4-5 (1-4), 54th in recruiting with only 10 commits and a dark NCAA cloud hovering over Oxford.

Only thing I'll say to that is that the day Pete Carroll left for Seattle, nearly everyone would have said there was a less than zero chance Kiffin would be hired by USC. A number of rejections later though, and mattresses in Knoxville were ablaze.

Notre Dame is precisely that type of job. The Prestige to aim high, but so many negatives that a round of rejections from the top tier is almost likely.

You're right, and what you and InVOL say makes a lot of sense. The main difference, though, is Kiffin had coached at SC for six years prior and was actually a good OC there. He left on good terms to take a HC job. So he had a history with SC and made it known that SC was his dream job.

CBJ, OTOH, doesn't have history with ND and IMO, they'll want someone with a championship pedigree. I think a school like Houston would be more interested in someone like CBJ. Or Purdue, but they couldn't pay enough. But I'm just speculating about something that won't happen as idle procrastination.

Chad Kelly is out for the season too. And they still have @ A&M, @ Vandy, and MSU. I just don't see them winning 2 out of the next 3 to go bowling. Think their guys are about to pack it in.

I wondered. But he's pricey and could probably land a HC job somewhere.

Riding Chip Kelly's/Marcus Mariota's coattails and then immediately tanking a 10+ year top 10 program into oblivion isn't a good look for new head coaching opportunities.
