Chad Kelly is out for the season too. And they still have @ A&M, @ Vandy, and MSU. I just don't see them winning 2 out of the next 3 to go bowling. Think their guys are about to pack it in.

Backup qb supposedly is almost as good as Kelly. Even if he's equal, their team has dropped off so far. I think they miss a bowl.

When you read some of their boards they don't really think they lead for many players either. Our recent CB commit was someone they thought they lead for and that didn't happen. Recruits are really being scared away by the cheating allegations.

Ole Miss will drop off into SEC oblivion and South Carolina will immediately take their place as another thorn in our side in recruiting.

Riding Chip Kelly's/Marcus Mariota's coattails and then immediately tanking a 10+ year top 10 program into oblivion isn't a good look for new head coaching opportunities.

True. Oregon flew high on Chip Kelly's offense. But some smaller programs might think he'd bring a good offense and attract recruits. He got a big raise and makes something like $3.5M, though, so not many programs would be willing to take a chance and pay that.

I didn't realize that Butch made that comment after South Carolina LAVol. That speaks volumes in my opinion. Instead of owning the expectation here, that quote sounds like a man that is looking to lighten his load so to speak. Didn't he make a comment last year about how he had aged and his wife was pointing it out to him? And it is true, he looks 15 years younger in his introductory press conference.

Ok

Edit: I'll add, Is 2016 Butch, a coach that has increased his win total every year and likely will this year in the toughest conference in the nation, a coach that has rebuilt the roster in 4 years, a coach that has improved the academic standing tremendously (which ND values tremendously), lower than a Cincinnati Brian Kelly?

I just get the impression that they think they undershot with Kelly and will aim higher next time. IMO, they'll try to get someone who has a championship pedigree. I mentioned Les Miles, because he's a strong family guy, religious, with kids in Catholic schools. He has a history of winning, has won Championships and recruits well. This is the kind of guy I think ND could be looking for-- but again, I'm just speculating.

Also, LSU Notre Dame and Texas will likely be coach hunting this winter. Not exactly a great time to be in the mix with those guys if you're Tennessee.

Unless you have a former GA, who loves everything about TN and even married a girl who used to be a cheerleader at TN, and still has some land near Knoxville, then any time is a good time. Amirite?

SOON!!!

Who am I missing?

No way. Kelly is the best QB in the conference when healthy, by a good margin. He was almost entirely responsible for their wins and competitive games this year. Entirely different team without him under center. He's a massive tool, but he can absolutely play.

Anyone have an update on whether we will see Foreman this weekend? Encouraged to see Kamara and Sutton practicing today.

I think kamara plays but not sutton. the way kentucky throws the ball we probably dont need sutton this week.

Could more speed and athleticism across the defensive line be an advantage going into these next 3 games against UK, Mizzou, and Vandy? It really showed up against TTech.

I could see that being an advantage. What I would like to see is better tackling this week.

If you are talking about Patterson, the plan was to redshirt him. I wouldn't think they would burn it for 3 games, but who knows. Pellerin came in on Saturday, and I didn't watch a whole lot, but he ran it more. He was 1-5 with an INT. Could be rough.

Dooley's defensive line would look athletic against TTech. You have to consider the opponent.

The SEC, even for the bottom feeders like the rest of our schedule, is a line of scrimmage league. You need some beef on the interior of both lines. It's still not going to be easy with our insane lack of depth at DT.

Thoughts on Dormady? I thought he looked pretty poised, good arm and accuracy, only made one bad decision that from what I saw.

I do not think it will be an advantage. Somebody may laugh at me, but I am actually worried a little bit about Kentucky gashing us in the run game the entire time. They ran the ball very effectively against Georgia. When you can line up in the wildcat, and everyone and their mama know you're running it, yet still gash The defense, then that is something to worry about. They will be lining up to do that against an all DE front. I am not sure how we will slow that down. I think stoops will slow the game down considerably and run the football, trying to limit our possessions like Appy state did. We need to tackle extremely well… Snell runs very hard.

Williams is also effective. Must control the LOS and tackle well.

Dormady looked great just as he has every time I've seen him play. He's a natural passer and looks effortless hitting spots all over the field. I'm not sure he'll be playing here next year if Guarantano beats him out, but he looks like a really good player to me.

Sutton just got out of his walking boot, so looks like he might be another week or two away. If possible, I think he might play some on SR Night, but more than likely, Vandy is the real target. Some think Kamara should be on the same schedule. They're pushing for UK, but it would be a setback to reaggravate his injury before it's fully healed-- especially if we don't absolutely need him for UK.
