Sorry Aesius, not biting on that bait - but may nibble.

If pushed to speculate, there is something odd about paying his own buyout...almost like there were certain clauses not agreed upon and the buyout was the bargaining chip.

Can't imagine CBJ and AD wouldn't try to block a move to Vandy with something like a non-compete.

His contract is public information. Any non compete info would be in it.

Butchna, reread my post as if I already knew what you are attempting to school me on. Then get back to me. //:tiphat emoji

"Couldn't imagine" "wouldn't try"...vague phrasing. Not so much "schooling" as grasping at your point. Heard of noncompetes in business and entertainment...buyouts are the attempted method to dissuade movement for coaches. Going all in for Shoop required this course...leave you with something else with which you're struggling. :hi:

Updated rosters are out for NCAA 14 on Operation Sports.

Highly scientific way of predicting the season, obviously, but Vols are loaded for 2016, at least in video game form.

Whoever did the player ratings did a good job. Most are spot on.

Of course, it's damn near impossible to resist making guys like Kirkland, KMack, Martin, and PW 90+ overall rated. They should play to that level this season, but post spring camp, their ratings are accurate.

How do you update the rosters again?

So you throw out an isolated statistic to throw doubt about statistical trends?

Yes, stats can be misleading. Just like your argument.

Stats are misleading. I addressed what could be misleading about Shoop's defensive stats. You and lotto choose to worry about the Lebron graphic I posted. It was just a recent misleading stat I saw this week.

And like I said, Shoop's numbers look promising but it doesn't always translate.

Sorry I'm not pumping enough off season sunshine for this thread today.

From Big Orange Caravan...

"Butch Jones said Al Wilson was talking to him on NSD and Wilson told him, “I feel like I’ve changed addresses. You’ve changed this place.”

Wilson was talking about the culture change in Knoxville.

Butch said 38 programs asked to visit Tennessee this offseason so they can look at how Jones and his staff have turned things around.

Butch said Shy Tuttle is expected back by fall camp.

He laughed that he told Kongbo to stay off Twitter."

Of course there is no guarantee that Shoop will improve the defense or win us more games. But it was a very safe hire and low risk compared to keeping Jancek for another year. Shoop never really has bad years statistically. Worst case scenario, he's a more aggressive Jancek. Best case scenario, he fields a top 10 defense and the Vols are as hard to run on as Bama was last year.

Anyone doubting that Shoop is going to improve the defense, might as well argue that....

I'm Seriously sitting here trying to think of something witty to say, but just can't get over this :eek:lol:

Are all the teams done?

Nothing is a sure thing in college football, and I get what you're saying. But there's a reason Penn St broke the bank last year to keep Shoop, Auburn was willing to break the bank to get him this year, and our own notoriously tight AD did break the bank to get him. These are major programs falling all over themselves to pay the man. They see something.

His defenses at Vandy and Penn St were pretty impressive any way you look at them. With the talent discrepancy Shoop faced in many of the games over that stretch and with mediocre offensive production to rely on most of those years, his numbers look even more impressive to me.

I think we may still have 99 problems as a football program, but I don't think next year's defense will be one of them. JMO

Good post and I agree.

If he wasn't a legacy he prob never would have been given a scholarship. Nothing about his film looked good. He just looked the part and made you hope he could be a better TE than WR

Looked like an athlete instead of a football player - no position.
