DT class coming together nicely. Crosby already onboard. Gaddy and Reitmaier next. Jordan Williams also in the fold as either a DE or DT. Probably a good idea to take one JUCO guy as insurance in case Tuttle or KMack leave after 2017 and the guys from this class aren't quite ready to take over yet.

Just a random thought I had about why you sometimes see high profile recruits seem so...um...random. Over the last couple of years, we've had a few who seemed to have no or low interest in UT suddenly commit against the predictions. Why? Well, there are the girls you date and the girls you marry. We all know why, so I'll leave that unspoken. Likewise, I think there are the schools you visit, and the school you choose, and I think the reasons are similar. The more they visit, the more buying signs they exhibit, then the more robust the handshakes become and the more diverse the scenery. That would be pretty intoxicating for a 17 year old, but the things that go into the final decision tend to be more concrete and meaningful. I think the culture that CBJ is building appeals well to some guys in the long term, but may not be as rewarding in the short term.

OK...maybe that was like "Deep Thoughts by SSVol."

You would need to do it for everyone. Look, I'm not a stat guy and you are. It's ok.

Bob Shoop will have other teams begging us to just run the clock to get the game over with. Offensive coordinators will be soiling their pants at the sight of his defense. We may not give up a first down all year.

I'm not even that big of a stat guy. It's just funny that since numbers hurt your head you overlook them. Given the data and time to do it, you can control for every single variable that you have mentioned.

Numbers/ stats are not causative, but they are great for evidence/ correlation.

They don't hurt my head.

Given the data and time to do it, I can find a stat to back up any point I want to make.

Stats are for losers and the greatest football coach to ever live agrees with me.

Stats are evaluative tools just like watching film/games and interviewing players, coaches and family members. Anytime you're bringing someone into your program or franchise, you should use every tool available to make sure you have a clear picture of that person his fit with your program. Stats can provide context just as well as in person evaluation. They are complementary, not mutually exclusive.

Dismissing stars because you were born with eyeballs is dumb.

I appreciate all the people explaining to me the definition of stats and why they are important. I am so dumb. I had no idea. I thought they were just random numbers.

Barnett 13 to the Colts. No other Vols noted. Fournette and Chubb listed. Tabor at 5.

Interesting. No Cam Sutton.

I don't think Cam goes in round 1. I've always thought he was over rated by our fan base. He's very good, will play in the NFL and has been the best corner we've had in a good bit but I think he has been overhyped a bit by Vol fans because the person on the opposite side of him has always been a much easier target.

Actually Cam is very underrated. He's a future pro bowler in the NFL. And if we have the season most expect (SEC championship/playoffs), expect his stock to soar.

I think he goes top 10 overall and is the first corner taken in 2017.

I had a dream last night that I slept through my graduation on Saturday. :thud:

I had a friend in college who was the first one in his family to go to college. It took him eight years to graduate. His whole family, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and some cousins showed up for his graduation. It was a really big deal for them.

He wasn't there. He slept through it.

I have asked the following on a couple of Florida message boards but I am still confused so maybe some of the resident Florida fans on here can help me.

Where does the confidence in Luke Del Rio come from? The kid has been at Alabama and Oregon State and has career stats of being 8-18. All I see however is how confident they are and that he is going to be better than Grier. There is no way I would be this confident with an unproven quarterback especially having to come to Knoxville. Any help here gator fans?

He had a down year least year, but PFF had him as one of the best corners in the nation after his sophomore year. He will bounce back
