No, it's not.
Took about 10 seconds to Google defensive ends. Randomly selected 5, and three of the five are 6'3 or shorter. Including 1 from the Patriots.
So either sampling is extremely inaccurate or his stats on them were completely pulled out of his butt.
You can choose.

Look at the top sack guys. They're all tall and long. Barnett will be a really good pro but he does have physical limitations imo. I will never doubt him but I also see some of his flaws that might prevent him from being an elite pro.

Guess we'll see in a few years. Hope he's all pro every year.

Boys... my son is officially one years old. He's all grown up now 😢😢

Happy Birthday Peyton Utvols88

Enjoy every millisecond of your time with him.
All of a sudden my so is 14 and my daughter is 11.

Take off work to see every school event (no matter how silly it seems)
Go to as many practices, and never miss a game or recital.
Work will always be there, those precious moments with your kids are fleeting.

This was a PSA for best parenting thoughts...

Congrats!

I'm not sure I understand your response at all.
You're throwing out "top sack guys" and "All Pro".
The op said 6'4 was basically the cutoff for the NFL, and I looked it up and he's wrong. How Barnett performs, is yet to be seen. I'm not one of the people who throw out statements about the future.
I do know that Barnett is not shorter than the average defensive end.

I had just read a list of the top 40 DE's in the NFL yesterday. So I went back to check their height listings. 10 of them were listed 6'4". 16 were listed as 6'3" or shorter. So 14 of them were 6'5" or taller.

2016- VT*
2017- GT*
2018- WVU*
2019- ?
2020- ?
2021- Pitt
2022- @Pitt

These are our Power 5 opponents the next 5 or so years. What do you guys think we will do in 2019 and 2020? Will we do a home and home to fill both years? Will it be a big time team or middle of the pack team like we currently have scheduled? Or will we do two more neutral games? If neutral we try to have a marquee game or more in line with VT, WVU,ect?

What would you choose if you had your choice?

I'd love to do a home and home with any of these teams.

FSU (boise St our open years)
Clemson (ND and A&M our open years)
VT (ND and Mich our open years)
WVU (Missouri, NC St and Maryland our open years)
ND (has opening in 2020)
Mich (ND, VT and @Wash our open years)
OSU (TCU and Oregon our open years)
Penn St (open in 2019)
Miami (UF and Michigan St our open years)
Texas (LSU our open years)
UCLA (Open in 2020)
USC (Open in 2020 and has BYU/ND in 2019)
UNC (open in 2020)

unfortunately I think we will likely do something more middle of the road because as you can see most of these teams are already filled up.

When do you all think this gets announced? Usually these are set 3-5 years in future so it is getting close? We are missing the window for any good matchups.

Battle of the UTs is a marketing dream for CBJ.
Just a thought and I would love to utterly dismantle the longhorns...:)

That does go along with the sampling.
The numbers are close, but there is slightly more 6'3" or shorter than 6'5 or taller.

D4H literally never has any idea what he's talking about. Like he's usually so wrong that you just have to laugh and move on. It's not worth arguing about Bc the guy is so off.

Great words. Appreciate it Doc.

Almost everyone it seems agrees that D4H is either a troll or doesn't know what he's talking about. And so many complain about how he is a major contributor to the problems of this board and is a detriment to the enjoyment of it. And so many people already have put him on ignore and plead with everyone else to do the same.

Yet people still quote him and engage him in silly debates where his position is so ludicrously wrong.

Why????

DB has plenty of size and athleticism to be a great player in the NFL. Don't let the clown fool you.

For once, I think D4H is not expressing his own opinion, but the opinion he's read from other sources. Bruce Feldman is a huge DB fan and even said DB is the most underhyped elite player in college football this week in his podcast with Stuart Mandell. However, Feldman also acknowledged he's heard a lot of concerns about DB's height and measurables from NFL scouts. I think Stoops even referenced these concerns in his media session yesterday.

I'm not worried about it though. He's a beast for Tennessee, and he'll probably do just fine in the NFL.

They need a hug? :dunno:

FYI the best 4-3 DE in the league is 6'4 272 and ran a 5.13 40.

A well rounded end in the league is much more about hands, physicality, and smarts.

On if Foreman is now a back-up:

It most definitely sounded that way to us today. Nothing written in stone yet but certainly looks to be headed in that direction. Based on how Shoop talked today hard to think that Gaulden and Abernathy aren't starters and certainly TK seems safe at his spot

My opinion isn't worth much on the subject but I agree that height is an advantage.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if DB's speed balanced out the height issue. With so many in the NFL at 6'3 or shorter, they don't seem to mind if you're bringing something else like that, to the table.

No. I said it's the cut off for elite defensive ends aka those who gets drafted really high.

Obviously there are many DEs that are 6'3" or shorter. But those guys are said to have below average measurables. And unless a player can overcome that lack of below average size and length with freakish athleticism, it's unlikely he goes high.

I love Barnett and want him to go top 10 in the draft. I'm just telling you it's unlikely given the history of the NFL draft in recent years.

Sure, you can criticize Debord a bit for conservative calls. But I am willing to bet that we at least beat UF if Shoop was our DC last year. 5 fourth down conversions! 5!

Totally agree and i'd be willing to bet if Debord had called more pass plays and Dobbs throws an interception, some on here would be *****ing about taking unnecessary chances when all we had to do was rely on our defense and not have any turnovers!

Always easier after the fact!

Sounds like our secondary will be elite. Foreman played decent at the end of the season but that was against bad teams. Gonna need all playmakers back there to win the SEC.

thats true but luckily our reg season schedule has about 9 teams on it that he should be just fine against.
