After we thrash Ohio, I want men, women and children to recoil in horror, when they witness the annihilation the Vols unleash on the Gators. I want to feel the thunder of Neyland through my floor in Thailand.

I want every conceivable thing to go wrong for Florida, and for Tennessee to capitalize swiftly, without hesitation. I want General Neyland to peer down from heaven, look over at Peter, and give him the Jeremiah Johnson bearded head nod.

I want the anguish of 12 years of suffering, to be poured out in the condensed time frame of those 3 1/2 hours, with nothing left to give. I want The whole Florida defense to have nightmares of Dobbs, cutting through their defense like a fat man through chocolate cake.

I'll be happy with even a 1 point win.:)

Having actually seen how they practice, forget the idea that Bates and Bryant do not practice well or understand the D. Insert different reasoning that only the coaching staff can provide. Maybe actual execution or some other puzzling explanation that I am incapable of providing.

This, this and this!! Except I do prefer carrot cake. Still, awesome post, nick.

The fact that an underskilled and overmatched Jumper is the only quality middle linebacker capable of playing in our system is an indictment on our recruiting profile as well as Coach Thigpen's ability to recruit. Clay Matthews Jumper is not. There is no reason someone else shouldn't be able to call the defense. Especially if those positions are "interchangeable".

And there's still time. If the light ever comes on dude has the physical tools

He may actually need to play in a game. Similar to McDowell, both are juniors and will hit you. Elliot Berry not being able to beat out Jumper is another one you wonder about. Like how are athletes not grasping things at all.

:::Gasp:::

that isn't Lws. Insider agents hacked his account.

:::Cough cough:::

Now I wait for insider snipers to finish me off since the cyanide is taking too long.

While you were sleeping, they switched out the cyanide tooth for one filled with a devilish neurotoxin. It will paralyze all but your extra ocular muscle, diaphragm and heart. It won't kill you, but instead will allow you to observe the horror as it unfolds. You won't be able to to interfere. Oh, and you will not be able to control bowel or bladder, so there is also the stench of your own excrement do deal with too. (Smell doesn't use muscle at all) Truly a devil's brew...we found out too late to save you, but others have been taken out of harm's way. Godspeed sir.

You gotta be able to make the right calls. Those that are mentioned can't make them. Jumper has been in the system awhile and even though he may not be the fastest, he's got the cerebral part down.

There's been a couple of games where we missed out on valuable reps for our backups because we refuse to go full throttle. I think it slows the development of guys like Bryant who should be capable at this point.

I am really hoping we come out and put Ohio away. I really don't want a repeat of North Texas.

Great post. Exactly why you should not be too vanilla against teams you should hammer. Put them away in the first half, and let younger guys get valuable game reps. I think the team comes out flat because they don't have an exciting game plan to execute...that is on the coaches.

Just like Dobbs as well. Butch didn't want to play him but he had to and Dobbs shined in the games. Sometimes athletes perform better in games. Would be nice to see many backups in games like this weekend. I'd like to see a 35-3 type score at half and then put in Dormady, Kelly, Byrd (although he likely starts this week), Bryant, Bates, Osborne, Warrior, etc...get these guys some meaningful playing time and film to review.

Maybe instead of starting out slow this weekend we come out fast and put up 28 1st Q points...would be a good way to see some backups get on the field.

I love JRM but the hit in Bristol was disgusting and beneath him.

You don't know what was going on before that play. The guy could have hit JRM with a cheap shot, stepped on his hand or squeezed his nuts in the pile. There are some crazy things that go on.

I've never seen JRM do that before so I think there was a reason for it. You only get so many chances at payback in a football game. You catch a guy you owe one standing around the pile and light him up. Everyone who's ever played football has been told don't stand around if the whistle hasn't blown.

Watch the Georgia guy who cut Tuttle in that game. If he's standing around he will get destroyed. This is how football works like baseball. You hit our guy and your going to catch one in the ribs somewhere down the road.

I feel the same way Ron but it seems like when Butch lets the backups in, they have a very limited playbook. Offensively speaking. That frustrates the heck out of me. Put these guys in and let them play just like the starters.

Sounds like you have experience with this. :zeitung_lesen:

Spot on.

Butch wants to play the guys who practice well and I get where he is coming from on that because it helps keep practices competitive and always meaningful. The message is "if you want to play, practice like it."

All the talk about Dobbs was that he didn't practice well. Then he shines in the games like you said. Butch had to be forced into playing him but Butch "doesn't believe in gamers" because it goes against what he preaches which is practice like you play.

This is the reason so many fans, myself included, don't believe that Jumper is the best option. Butch has shown more than once that the best don't always play for whatever reason.

Overall, I trust Butch Jones to do what he believes is best for the program. But at the same time I am really hoping that he finds a way to get the best 11 game day defensive players on the field on 9/24.
