It's a head thing for Preston. If you listened to Vol Calls a few weeks ago, he was on there and his response to one of the questions was "I just think to myself am I good enough?" He needs some confidence.

On a post-game interview, Gaulden owned up to it himself. IIRC he said he was drawn in by a play fake to the running back or something like that.

I do worry about his speed matches up with UF receivers and TEs.

Agree. With a competent DC, I think we see Shoop scheme around Jumper covering TEs and WRs. He'll try to hide him in certain situations or adjust personnel I would think.

I hope so. Just have to have speed on the field. We're more even now but that's why the streak is there in the first place. Lack of speed on defense.

youre correct. They have been playing some of the worst teams FBS has to offer also and still dont look great. But most on here will prob drill you for saying it due to their beaten vol syndrome. We can only cry and pout about our injuries and other teams issues dont matter.

I am a huge Tennessee fan and have been forever. I want him to succeed as much as anyone on here does. I didn't like it when they got rid of Bill Battle, and I was not sure about the change from Majors to Fulmer. I like stability. We must compete for the East and get back to beating Florida and Georgia consistently and Alabama occasionally until Saban is gone. Todays game was not impressive and the injuries should not be an excuse going forward. Everyone has injuries. He has had enough time to get the players he wants here and we all acknowledge he is a wonderful recruiter and talent evaluator. Has he coached them up? The line does not look that great. I sure wish they had kept Pittman. If they had I believe we would have a better team today. We are weak in depth at LB. That's on CBJ. Now we are facing our toughest part of the schedule without several of our better starters and frankly I do not think we have jelled yet and are still undisciplined at times. We put the ball on the ground a lot and that can easily beat you. Thank goodness we have recovered most of them in the first three games. I attribute the recoveries to good coaching in that area. But the ball shouldn't be on the ground that much to begin with. Hopefully we show up and play well next week.

None of the three guys that you mention were viable choices when we hired Butch. No one would touch Petrino and Hermann and Fuente still had not proven anything. It would be interesting had he kept Pittman, but I think he wanted to ride with Mahoney because he knew the blocking scheme. That is not an excuse. I wanted Pittman, too. I do think that he had a great chance when Bajakian left but chose to go with someone he knew. Debord has been only average so far as OC, in my opinion and clearly has not helped improve the OL very much.
