Have to be able to run, and have to stop the big play.

Defense has to get off the field, which in this game is a derivative of the offense not going 3 and out. A 3 and out is ok every now and then, but do it 2-3 times in a row, the game will break towards UF. Same rule applies to them.

Run Dobbs. Run slants. They are going to blitz because they trust their secondary. Attack that middle of the field.

Just now getting caught up on this thread.

I've seen quite a few positive posts about Buchanan. From my seat Saturday it looked like he was getting abused. I haven't watched the replay, but was it not as bad as that?

I would say Moseley got abused, but I think you have to try covering first.

Again, maybe replay will show otherwise.

How many passes were completed against him? I can recall only one. Not hearing your freshman corner's name mentioned very much is a good thing.

Buchanan did well considering the circumstances. They picked on him a few times but that was his first real game experience. There were some flashes. I think he'll end up being a solid corner for us.

Using our 2015 home games against Power 5 Teams (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina and Vanderbilt) Hurd and Kamara combine for an average of the following:

29 carries, 133 yds, 1 TD, 53.8 receiving yards and a receiving TD.

In those same games, Medley averages 2 FG made per game, and 4 XPs made.

So, using Dobbs stats i posted previously, I think we'll score around 34 points this week. That will be enough to beat these Gators.

Vols 34 Gators 23.

I'm holding out hope we have some things up our sleeve and been making Florida prepare for things we won't do. What is confusing is I have read our blocking scheme has been different this year compared to what worked last year. I'm not really sure why you would change that up. Mind games or stupidity? We had no issues running down thrusts if some of the best defenses in football last year. I've got to think he has something for us Saturday

The last few florida games at Neyland had the ambiance of a funeral. It's like a cloud of negative energy rolls out onto the field. It effects the players and it effects the coaches.

Saturday will be one of the few opportunities where you as a fan can help this team in a tangible way. And it's simple - act like you expect to win.

There will be adversity, and every person in that stadium will be thinking "here we go again" at some point. Dont. Tell your friends, tell the people around you - stay positive and stay loose.

No offense op, but that is make believe. It is a fans way to think they have some kind of outcome on the game. "Tangible"- do you want a fan to run out on the field and tackle someone? What a fan does has ZERO bearing on the game.

We won't be able to get up to Knoxville as early as I prefer. So, if we get to the Coliseum for parking around 2:00, will there still be spaces available? And, will we be in our seats in time for pre-game? Thanks buddies!

They should definitely take precedence over the Vols.

But I guess my thing is why not both? There are three other seasons to play sports. And the fall is for Tennessee football. And Tennessee football is and should be a family affair. Ha. We took one daughter to the app state game, two daughters this past Sat (see below), and I'm taking my son this coming Sat, Lord Willing. GBO!

.

I am loading up the gas guzzler with the whole fam to head to Knoxville. We will all be in Neyland screaming our heads off on Saturday.

Also, there is a little girl that goes to my girls' school and her family is Bama fans. (They are military from Bama so they aren't just bandwagon fans) I love going to pick up my kids because I get that little girl so riled up by telling her, "Go Vols!". I told her mom about it at a function at the school and she just laughed. They may be Bama fans but her daddy is raising her to be a true fan. I also try to raise mine to be true fans, except of the correct team!

Yet Vegas gives 3 points for a home field advantage.

Haha. At least they're true fans.

I am all for early and often indoctrination of love of the Big Orange. My kids know to say "Boo Alabama! Go Tennessee!"

If we score 34 thats a win by 3 touchdowns imo

Yes, to you and everyone else that commented... Just pointing out that with great coaching and development, you can put a great team on the field that is disciplined and can compete and beat anyone in the country, even if they are made up of lesser stars... Then on the opposite end, you have UT at this point.... Someone pointed out in another thread we have 3-4 four star LBs that can't move past a walk-on who may know the system, but lacks the athletic ability to play in the SEC... and that is just one position group....

Crowd noise in college football plays a factor. Teams burn timeouts due to it. They have trouble hearing the snap count. The home team can ride the momentum. Etc, etc, etc.

I guess we will agree to disagree. Ou game last year was pretty loud and we had all the momentum in the world...then what happened? If home field plays an advantage, it is negligible at best.

I think his point was that it helps. I don't think he meant it's a guarantee.

Home field being an advantage does not mean that you always win.

Ask Butch Jones or any college head football coach what he wants for a home game. A loud and rowdy crowd or a funeral service and I guarantee he says he wants it loud.

There is some benefit at certain times and it also can create an unhealthy environment at times. The pressure buildup seems to get to us, especially home games vs Florida. Hopefully we can overcome this Saturday!

I think you'll be fine.
