How many passes were completed against him? I can recall only one. Not hearing your freshman corner's name mentioned very much is a good thing.

This. Tells you all you need to know when the opposing teams keeps attacking Moseley time after time.

The one completion was actually very good coverage, just a perfect throw dropped over his head. He tackles well, too.

I'm a big fan already.

First extensive action and I think he earned your fandom.

There is some benefit at certain times and it also can create an unhealthy environment at times. The pressure buildup seems to get to us, especially home games vs Florida. Hopefully we can overcome this Saturday!

Yes indeed, hopefully.

I think most fans know when noise etc. is helpful and I do it even if I'm not feeling it. Best contribution I can make since I can't get out there and play.

Except for maybe 45 + yard field goal attempts, heck I'll throw my hat in the ring on that one. My bucket of light bulbs, sailing across the lawn, has had better distance and accuracy at times.

Buchanan did well considering the circumstances. They picked on him a few times but that was his first real game experience. There were some flashes. I think he'll end up being a solid corner for us.

I figured based on comments that it must have seemed worse to me for some reason. I hope to get a look at the replay, but it's a busy week.

I really hope they get these guys ready this week. If the d-line can get going, they could feast on bad throws.

There will be tons of unofficial visitors, though, and we'll know more on that in a couple of days. Some of the early names we know that are tentatively scheduled to make the trip include Trey Smith, Lamont Wade, 2018 WR Joshua Moore, 2018 safety Jordan Moore, 2018 OL Emil Ekiyor and 2019 LB Owen Pappoe.

-Ryan Callahan on those visiting this weekend

To score against Florida we'll need to do something to catch them off guard. Maybe dive left with Hurd instead of dive right?

They'll never know what hit them.

Petrino at a big school would be ridiculous. I think he waits to leave Louisville after Jackson goes Pro. Also I think he has a massive buyout so doubt he leaves this year. whonknows we may need a new coach by then

If he hadn't have been absolutely radioactive in 2012, I bet he would have gotten serious consideration for the HC here. I wonder what year 4 under him would look like.

There was a Sports Illustrated article a handful of years ago about if home field advantage was real, and what/if any advantages teams in all major sports receive.

I couldn't find a link but IIRC home field/court advantage was bigger in college basketball than any other sport.

I could see that being true. It is hard to win on the road in college hoops, even in the dreadful SEC.

I would guess that home field advantage would be the smallest in MLB, then NFL. I would say that it plays a larger role in college than in the pros as well.

I was curious about Austin Appleby's statement that Neyland wouldn't bother him because he had played in big time stadiums before. So I did a little homework.

Appleby has played in 6 road games in his career, all with Purdue:

2014 @Illinois
2014 @Minnesota
2014 @Nebraska
2014 @Indiana
2015 @Marshall
2015 @Iowa

Of those, I would say that Nebraska and Iowa certainly qualify as big time environments.

Appleby's record in these 6 games is 1-5, with the lone win coming at Illinois in 2014. His stat line for these road games is: 122/215 for 1,223 yrds (56.7 % completion percentage, 203 ypg) with 7 tds and 11 int., and 220 yds rushing with 5 rushing tds.

Going off that sample size, if he has an Appleby average road game, he'll go 20 for 36, for 203 yrds, 1 TD and 2 ints, with 36 yds rushing and a rushing TD.

Think that is good enough to beat us?

Saying that crowd noise or behavior has no effect on the game denies the whole mental aspect of football. Focus, nerves and confidence can all have an impact on what happens.

I think all teams want to feel supported. They thrive when they feel like the people surrounding them have their backs. They can tighten up when they feel like every tiny mistake is amplified and nitpicked.

I was at the Ohio game. And man I was getting annoyed with just how frustrated everybody was about every single play. I was frustrated too. But at some point I realized I can't be that type of fan. You can't expect every play to go Tennessee's way. Sometimes they will miss a tackle or go three and out. That happens to every football team at every level all across the globe.

Honestly I think this team has been really good at not letting negative plays into their head. That Virginia Tech game looked scary early on and most Vol fans were ready to fire Butch on the spot, me included. But they kept playing and stayed even and eventually things started to click for them. They have made the winning plays in every game so far. When their backs were against the wall they have scored. When the ball has been on the ground, they have recovered it (outside of Cam's muffed punt).

It may not look how we all think it should look, but we're capable of beating Florida. No doubt about that. They are going to really struggle to move the ball on us I think.

I really loved what Dobbs said after the Bristol game. The lady interviewing him asked him about our offensive line struggles. And he said he was proud of them. He thought they played really well. They knew as a team that Tech was going to make plays on them. And they took those plays on the chin when they came and kept playing with the same intensity. It didn't spiral out of control.

I think this team is better than most of us think. Me included. And I think we're about to beat Florida for the first time in what feels like 100 years. And it's gonna be awesome.

Go Vols

Great, the Petrino Tents are starting to get pitched again.

I will in no way dispute that the man is a high level coach. He is a very good college coach.

I will, however, point out that every time he has had HC by his name, he has left a smoking crater behind once he's gone. With the slight exception being his one year rehab stint at WKU, but it was a frigging rehab stint.

That is a problem.

They should definitely take precedence over the Vols.

But I guess my thing is why not both? There are three other seasons to play sports. And the fall is for Tennessee football. And Tennessee football is and should be a family affair. Ha. We took one daughter to the app state game, two daughters this past Sat (see below), and I'm taking my son this coming Sat, Lord Willing. GBO!

Love it! I'll probably dictate that a bit more as they get older. But you're right, going to Neyland on a fall day with the beautiful orange glistening in the sun with my dad is one of my fondest memories. It's more than just a sport at that point and I want to pass that along as well.

He's a trash person who creates massive chaos around any program he works for.
