Both Sumlin or Mullen are much better than what we have now. Send two contracts out - first one in wins the job.

You are seeing a real coach at Temple today. Matt Rhule/staff should be somewhere more important.

On the whole NegaVol vs. PosiVol thing, I think the debate suffers from the tendency to divide people into two very distinct categories when it's a lot more complicated than that. There are some people who are TRUE NegaVols; they absolutely refuse to acknowledge positives of any kind, they make moral losses out of actual victories, and they truly enjoy being constantly upset. Then there are some people who are TRUE PosiVols, who don't acknowledge any negatives, who make excuses for absolutely everything, and who will never say a bad word about the program no matter who is in charge or how well/poorly they are doing.

But in between those two extremes is an awful lot of variation. Some people tend to be more negative than positive, just as some people tend to be more pessimistic than optimistic, and vice versa. Being critical does not in and of itself make someone a "NegaVol." Pointing out positives and reasons why things might work out does not in and of itself mean someone is drinking the Big Orange Kool-Aid. It's not an either/or option.

Most people in the fanbase acknowledge that this season has been a disappointment and that this isn't acceptable going forward. But the set of available actions that could be taken is extremely limited right now. Some people are going to try and find hope, others are going to be pessimistic, and I think both are legitimate.

Nice post.

Ziti you are by far the best and most reasonably poster here but this is just an unreasonable thought.

It would have been very realistic to call Cotman themselves and tell him that the CBs
On the roster haven't developed like we hoped and we have to go get a juco guy in that spot. That's a five minute phone call.
That's very realistic. Same thing with Rogers.

What is your stance on kids over the years that have been committed to us, some even down to the last minute, and some who have assured coaches they would commit so they would hold the spot and then just drop us at the alter?

This is ridiculous. TL:DR.

Too much reason and logic to be acceptable on here. Redo if you want a better review. :)

:good!:

Sumlin 79-37

Fleck 30-21

McIntyre 35-51

Taggart 40-45

Come on man..you know those numbers are skewed. Taggert took over a dumpster fire at USF and McIntyre took over the worst program in CFB. I am not a huge fan of either guy, but those numbers mean nothing.

Good point. It's not a perfect world, it's a world the corrupt NCAA set up and supports.

Personally, on this issue I go with the "do the right thing even when it isn't popular or expedient" side of things. Affirm the value of the 18-20 year old person while at the same time being honest that you are going a different direction. That develops a reputation of being a straight shooter that guys and their families can trust, which is especially important when you are selling the "we are family" VFL concept. JMO.

McIntyre 15-21 prior to Colorado

Taggart 16-20 at WKU

Still..those numbers out of context mean nothing. They have both done a great job making chicken salad out of chicken s..crap. Taggart and the USF program was a joke in Tampa when I left a couple of years ago. The turnaround is remarkable.

The numbers are skewed. I'm not sure about Taggart at WKU, but McIntyre had a huge rebuilding job at San Jose State. SJS was a 1 or 2 win team suffering from NCAA sanctions and McIntyre turned them into an 11 win team in year 3.
