Apparently it is. Texas has lost a few commitments come signing day the last few years to OU specifically because they weren't going to get in. OU pretty much let's in anyone.

All the Texas kids know that if they can't get into a Texas school, the Oklahoma schools are easy. Of course the same is said for ole miss, arkansa and bama around here.

If a Pitt loss has a more disqualifying weight in light of a conference championship then Clemson should have been the 4 seed.

Agree.

If you're gonna do a playoff then 8 makes the most sense. BCS was fine with me though.

More than anything I'm just "anti" the arbitrariness of the committee format. I'd be great with 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 16, etc if there was a way to do it with distinct criteria for making it amd not making it without relying on a group of humans to choose the teams.

For instance, every state has found a way to determine the playoffs for high school football without the need for committees. Surely a similar points system could be implemented in college.

Yep. They can't be trusted.

Clemson is where they should be. Better wins than Washington.

Double standard. PSU has the better win head to head. The justification is to keep them out because of their losses. I get that this is not going to be settled. Just don't much like the arbitrary feel.

I think it's bs that OSU is in the playoffs so as protest I will it watch any of their games.... As always

Not a double standard in the least.

It's not as much trust as just the arbitrary nature of it for me. Arguing about SOS and who lost when and where etc is just dumb. the high school points formula system would work wonders and keep the integrity of the regular season

Goes hand in hand with trust.

If it's subjective then they can just put in whoever they wish and then come up with whatever reasons or criteria to justify it.

16 team playoff would be fine.
-P5 conference champs are 1-5 seed
-P5 runner up (or next best record) 6-10 seed
-Top 6 non-P5 teams follow up seeds 11-16

Allows for good representation of the P5 schools, and plenty of room for your underdogs

Yeah but how deep does the controversy go as to who is No. 1? Very rarely does it go 3 or 4 deep. One undefeated team this year really cinches the question.

Edit: Maybe the playoff should only be used when there are teams that have identical records to the No. 1 team.

Would have made this last weekend practically meaningless.
