Apparently it is. Texas has lost a few commitments come signing day the last few years to OU specifically because they weren't going to get in. OU pretty much let's in anyone.

If you're gonna do a playoff then 8 makes the most sense. BCS was fine with me though.
More than anything I'm just "anti" the arbitrariness of the committee format. I'd be great with 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 16, etc if there was a way to do it with distinct criteria for making it amd not making it without relying on a group of humans to choose the teams.
It's not as much trust as just the arbitrary nature of it for me. Arguing about SOS and who lost when and where etc is just dumb. the high school points formula system would work wonders and keep the integrity of the regular season
16 team playoff would be fine.
-P5 conference champs are 1-5 seed
-P5 runner up (or next best record) 6-10 seed
-Top 6 non-P5 teams follow up seeds 11-16
Allows for good representation of the P5 schools, and plenty of room for your underdogs
