I don't think they do either, but the problem is VolTwitter tends to show its a$$ in public any time they get the chance.
Butch tweets the most absolutely innocuous things, but within 15 minutes there right there making "5* Heart" digs, telling him to quit, etc. Anybody writes about Tennessee, there they are to root around in the slop if its negative, or tell them how much Jones and by extension UT sucks if its remotely positive.
I think so too, and I would agree with the decision. 8-4 is my cut-off.
I like Butch and think he has done great things to restore the program. I also think his tenure has been better than portrayed by the media, and last year was a disaster mostly because of injuries. But at some point, you lose control of the narrative and no matter how good a coach you are, you can't overcome the negativity to lead your team, recruit, etc. He is dangerously close to that.
I think this sums it up pretty well. I think being able to control the narrative is part of the reason Malzahn has kept his seat cooler than Butch.
I think with this roster and staff, 8 wins should be a reasonable baseline expectation. I could see some scenarios where a 7 win season might be excusable, but I'm not sure Butch has enough equity at this point for it to matter should we only win 7.
agreed. Here's a question that will be on a lot of minds tho. If Butch goes 8-4/7-5, and you know you can have Chip Kelly, do you fire him?
If I'm Currie and Chip Kelly tells me he wants this job, if Butch doesn't win the east I'm probably gonna give him an apple and a road map and tell him to hit the pavement. Let's quit all these Mickey Mouse games and take things up a couple notches. However, the chances of that happening are extremely low lol
Mayweather vs McGregor is on. I think this could be the first fight in boxing history that goes 12 rounds and one fighter doesn't land a punch.

Whoop. De. Do. I am Oregon alumni i think i remember his career pretty well. His gimmick high powered offense took advantage of the lack of any defense in that conference. That won't fly in the SEC.
If he goes 8-4 and loses to Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU I think there's a good chance Currie will let him go. When you're in year 5 at a place like Tennessee you need to be competing for championships, period. The big question would be how confident Currie would be that he could pull a top coach. If there aren't any realistic candidates on the market, I think you would have to hold on to Jones.
