I don't think they do either, but the problem is VolTwitter tends to show its a$$ in public any time they get the chance.

Butch tweets the most absolutely innocuous things, but within 15 minutes there right there making "5* Heart" digs, telling him to quit, etc. Anybody writes about Tennessee, there they are to root around in the slop if its negative, or tell them how much Jones and by extension UT sucks if its remotely positive.

Yeah I agree it's ridiculous. I just don't give that quite as much mind as some on here assume they do. Teenagers these days are used to internet trolls and mobs popping up everywhere over dumb s***. It's the norm they've grown up in.

Just found out a great man and big Vol fan passed away today. He was a AAA Basketball boys basketball coach of the year before he retired and he coached my daughter in AAU and with individual lessons. He was a great guy and he did love the Vols. I am just really sad right now. Pray for his family. One of the best guys I have had the privilege of knowing. RIP friend.

I think so too, and I would agree with the decision. 8-4 is my cut-off.

I like Butch and think he has done great things to restore the program. I also think his tenure has been better than portrayed by the media, and last year was a disaster mostly because of injuries. But at some point, you lose control of the narrative and no matter how good a coach you are, you can't overcome the negativity to lead your team, recruit, etc. He is dangerously close to that.

I think this sums it up pretty well. I think being able to control the narrative is part of the reason Malzahn has kept his seat cooler than Butch.

I think with this roster and staff, 8 wins should be a reasonable baseline expectation. I could see some scenarios where a 7 win season might be excusable, but I'm not sure Butch has enough equity at this point for it to matter should we only win 7.

Mayweather vs McGregor is on. I think this could be the first fight in boxing history that goes 12 rounds and one fighter doesn't land a punch.

If he only wins 7 this year with this coaching staff and the talent that has been accumulated over the last five years I'll personally come to the conclusion that he's simply not a championship caliber coach in this league. While I don't think that will happen, he better hope it doesn't.

agreed. Here's a question that will be on a lot of minds tho. If Butch goes 8-4/7-5, and you know you can have Chip Kelly, do you fire him?

If I'm Currie and Chip Kelly tells me he wants this job, if Butch doesn't win the east I'm probably gonna give him an apple and a road map and tell him to hit the pavement. Let's quit all these Mickey Mouse games and take things up a couple notches. However, the chances of that happening are extremely low lol

Chip Kelley seems like a douche. I'd rather have Butch.

This will be even worse than Pacquiao. No way I'm paying for that boring garbage.

Whoop. De. Do. I am Oregon alumni i think i remember his career pretty well. His gimmick high powered offense took advantage of the lack of any defense in that conference. That won't fly in the SEC.

I think you're on to something, honestly.

He could, and I stress could, be a good coach but he isn't the panacea some people seem to think he is. His resume is a lot different than Harbaugh and Saban (and those are the names I always see people bring up).

Its going to suck having to hear his name every five minutes this fall from the FAHRHIZA$$ crowd.

If he goes 8-4 and loses to Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU I think there's a good chance Currie will let him go. When you're in year 5 at a place like Tennessee you need to be competing for championships, period. The big question would be how confident Currie would be that he could pull a top coach. If there aren't any realistic candidates on the market, I think you would have to hold on to Jones.

What if Tennessee goes 8-4 this season, but beats bama, lsu, uga, and gators? Where would that take us?

Thatd mean losing to Ga tech, Vandy, UK, and Scar 🤢 unless butch only wins 6 games i think hes here to stay

First few rds will be entertaining but anything after 3 will be boring or Floyd domination. Conor not conditioned to get that far at least based on past histroy. These dudes about to make so much money from this promotion and fight.
