The D plan was solid for the first three drives. Then they adjusted and we didn't. They exploited our weakness. We didn't adjust.

I can't explain that.

If that is the way this team will play this year it will be a long year.

My guess is they only installed that plan for Tech and didn't want to go traditional. Thought they could still stop them.

It worked. Barley. But it worked.

Totally opposite of last year. Couldn't stop anybody in the beginning. Then adjusted and shut everyone down. Strange.

I think the ineffectiveness of the offense was a huge contributor the defenses ails. The defense effectively played a full game in the first half.

Beer

With basically no substituting. Only played 3 DEs and 3 DTs until the very end when 98 played. Terrible plan for rotating players against a ball control team

I do think that's probably why and I agree with starting the game that way. But when it starts getting down to nut cutting time and it looks like we are gonna lose the game, I would have to take my chances with risking injury.

I agree.

It does raise a question though. Although Butch claims that the goal is to go 1-0 every week, do you think that they enter certain games (Bama, for instance) with a mentality of surviving, rather than winning?

The question was rhetorical...not really looking for an answer.

Fantasy draft coming up. I pick second.

If both are available, do you take LeVeon Bell or David Johnson?

I want to answer lol

I absolutely think he just wanted to survive bama last year and didn't have thoughts of winning.

Yea, have a hard time understanding this. You'd think they'd have a substitution plan, rotating a lot of players. If risk aversion was a factor in gameplanning, you would think keeping your players as fresh as possible would be a factor. It's common knowledge that tired players are more likely injured.

They just weren't calling penalties last night. That was obvious

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but the game seemed to move along pretty well. Not many penalties. Not many reviews. I wonder if that was so they show 4 times the number of commercials at every break.

I am very interested to see what happens with the LBs when we play primarily just 2

I think you have to play Bituli. I would try him out with Ignont this week. Colton is so limited. I love the kid's effort, but he can't play against our main SEC opponents.

You mean like Florida and Georgia who he dominated last year?

He would ball out at Carson Newman bro. I'm a fan of his effort, but he doesn't have it. There are just as many busts from him as solid plays. The GT game changed my mind on him. He's a couple steps too slow to play in the SEC. A couple steps slow in the SEC=Touchdowns.

Bituli is physically what we should expect from LBs at Tennessee. Big, strong, fast. Freakishly long arms doesn't hurt either.

I'm a little behind from last football talk thread but all this we didn't win they lost/ we didn't deserve to win talk is CRAP. If your team has more points at the end of the game then you did what you had to to deserve the win. Unless you cheated or the referees missed/made calls that were obviously unfair, then a win is earned. Stop negating what this team and coaches did and get behind them. I'd take a game like that every time if we were on top at the buzzer.

Preach! The play by Gaulden to force a fumble and the block by Bain is 100% effort until the bitter end
