2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.
3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.
6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.
I've watched the game over again, and I've come to the conclusion the defensive game plan (playing off the ball, limited Dline subs) was on purpose to limit any possible injuries and to not have to play players who might not be 100% yet. I believe they were willing lose the game, to save the players for later in the season. I also don't think they expected the offense to be as ineffective in the first half, so the Dline players would get more rest. Jmo
Believe it or or not I just read this over in the FF and it's a great way to look at the gt game.
We may have a lot of things to correct but our record ain't one of them.. 1-0
We could be like Florida, GT, and TAMU.. 0-1
If I'm Florida....I'm worried about playing UT.
Tennessee's offense scored 42 points - Florida's scored 3.
Tennessee's defense played against a triple option offense. Florida's defense played against an offense that they will pretty much see every week in the SEC...and couldn't stop it.
Tennessee's QB struggled early on, but put it together when it mattered. Unfortunately for Florida.....he's already better than all of their QB's combined.
We have John kelly....they don't.
:hi:

I said this last night. It is an obvious deduction to me. I think the early offensive paralysis (mainly due to dropped passes) is what obliterated the game plan.
Also..for all their huge gaudy yardage numbers, they only scored 28 points in regulation..28. The defense had a part in causing that inefficiency.
Shoop will be fine. Chill out folks. Good grief. You will never see that defensive package again. One time deal with top priorty to protect the DL for season and not lose them all game 1. We are critically thin at DT and had to do this. Then we lost vickers at one point making it even worse.
We would have been fine had offense not went 3 and out almost every drive making it an insane time of possesion. You want to play a triple option. Worried about your knees every play for 90 freaking plays?
Our DEs Couldn't even show off their main strength at rushing passer.
Cool story bro moment...
We're in Naples for a few days, and cable was out so we went to a bar to watch the game. We were 4 Vol fans in a Sports bar plastered with Gator swag.
There was one other young guy in there with a Vol shirt on, so we chatted. Turned out Byrd and Fils-Aime was his adopted brothers he said.
He told me 27 has tried every thing under the sun to gain weight and can't get past 180ish but has been working hard to. I asked about Byrd and corner, he said he doesn't want to play corner, wants to be a WR, but would def be better served there. No clue whether he was blowing smoke or for real, but he knew an awful lot about them, and said his parents were at the game to watch them.
Glad we squeaked out a win! That game was way too on edge for the season opener!!

People keep telling me that they gifted us the game. Bull. Both fumbles were forced. Those aren't gifts, those are defensive plays. Kelly was an animal that could not be stopped. That isn't a gift. Callaway balled last night, they couldn't cover him. Dormady made some clutch throws as well. And when it was on the line, our defense, especially Taylor, made the stop when we hadn't stopped them all night. That isn't a gift. That is a hard fought, come from behind, earned victory. We got the W. We earned it.
That's a big leap in a small amount of info. There was a moment though where the ref was having to explain in detail the pretty obvious ramifications of a 5 yard penalty. That had me scratching my head more than the TO call. Even the head ref was loomed like he was saying "wtf is taking so long." Maybe our D was misaligned on the TO, who knows.
