My confidence has taken a hit. I will admit it. Butch is backed into a corner now. He has to win against Georgia. Has to. If he loses that game, I think he's gone.

I'm not ready to concede that as a loss though.

The East has been horrid for most of his tenure. But we haven't won it one time. He needs to be fired at the end of the year.

I agree he needs to go. Personally, I would let him go now to be in position for the early signing period this year. We need someone that can keep the bulk of the recruiting class in place. Only problem with that is getting a high quality guy to commit to come to TN while the season is still going on.

This is where you and I differ. I don't root to lose. Just like Dooley and just like Cuonzo Martin, I root for us to win and then make tough decisions at the end of the year.

I wanted to beat Mizzou in 2012 because I thought Dooley would still get fired. I will never root for us to lose. Maybe a sigh of relief when things fall a certain way but not to lose.

Just saying that's what it'll take to make the program better in the long run. Rest assured when Tennessee takes the field on any Saturday I'll be pulling for the big orange. But if we hold on to this guy too long it's going to hurt the program in the long run. The time to make a move is now IMO

I would bet that he will open it up a bit now that he is in a corner. It seems like what he does.

Butch has had UGA's number ever since he's been here. Even with inferior talent we always have them a good game. This year, at home, with similar talent he has to win again.

I believe you have to give JG a chance now, QD made some serious mistakes in the swamp this weekend. He should be much smarter than that as a Jr.

THE first half was clearly played better with Jumper in the game. 110% sure on that. Second half I am not sure who played when.

When UF scored to make it 20 after the short field from JKs penalty, Jumper missed two third down tackles that extended their drive. Soooo...

Wasn't it for the same position he has at USC?

It was for WR coach, which is what he was at that time. A lateral move, albeit to his alma mater, but I really think it was lip service on both sides and both knew it was not going to happen.

The opening drive was very concerning. They went right down the field and we never stopped them as they self distructed with penalties. The staff didn't like something and made a change with Jumper and it paid off. I don't blame Butili for the other FG as it was a short field but the facts are his only two series at MLB we gave up points.

Also a fact that we gave up more points with Jumper in the game

He is far from perfect.

Here is one thing I thing we all can agree on regarding Jumper and butuli.

It makes absolutely ZERO sense for the staff to start Butili against florida and not have played him one single snap against Indiana State at MLB. That is dumb coaching. My guess is butuli blew a presnap assignment in the opening drive and the jost felt more comfortable wth Jumper after that. If he had some experience that may not have been the case

Lol ok so now you're saying Bituli deserved to be pulled because UF got two FGs while he was in?

And your claiming they marched down the field while he was in?

One drive they started at their own 44 yard line and ended up kicking a 41 yarder.

The other they drove down the field, but we got a red zone stop. No red zone stop with Jumper at MLB sadly.

I'd go with Bituli, regardless of whether UF got 6 points while he was in the game or not. Bituli might be a little late on a read here and there, but he's got athletic ability to make up for mistakes. Jumper might read every play perfectly, but he'll still fail to make the play too much. He's the equivalent of a QB who can read defenses and get the offense into the right play every down but can't throw the ball farther than 15 yards.

Case in point: when jumper sniffed out the screen to Powell on UF 2nd to last TD drive only to miss the tackle in horrible fashion.

As terrible as that was I'm willing to give the guy a chance to salvage out a good season going forward, but the odds are not in his favor. We have to beat Georgia, SC, KY, and Vandy. A loss to one of those now makes it a very mediocre/borderline crappy year, but a loss to two makes it a complete failure.

OK, if it's out there, it's out there. I have heard that we have four players who have threatened to transfer. JG told some players after GT that he was leaving. He's made it known that he's not going to sit behind QD two years. Two players threatened to leave last night; another one threatened to leave today. I think one of them may have cleaned out his locker. All of it is 100% unnecessary. Our coaches need to be able to manage this.

CBJ and CBS aren't getting along. That isn't new. Apparently, CBS thinks that CBJ hamstrings him and makes it impossible for him to run the defense he wants. They're barely civil to each other. I've been wondering if Shoop will quit. It's crossed my mind that he's sticking around to see if CBJ gets released and he can get an interim tag.

IMO, most of this will get patched up. Position coaches have talked players back before-- more than we know-- so it's possible everybody will play against UMass and this will all go away. But it shouldn't have been allowed to escalate to this point.

And there it is. This all stems from Butch's refusal to let loose the reins. From player personnel decisions to his high paid coordinators who are not able to do their jobs. This will be his downfall. I think it is unlikely to change. I think the assistants can talk some of the players down, as emotions and frustration were very high. If JG really wants to leave, then we need to get Martinez or Penix ready in a hurry.

Bingo. Dave Hart was skeptical of the staff Butch was bringing in because they were all non SEC/non Tennessee guys and he wanted Butch to hire one guy to appease the fan base.

John Brice said a couple of weeks ago the VQ staff heard when Butch was hired that Hart gave him an insane amount of money for assistant coaches when he was hired and Butch turned it down to bring in his own guys.

If what LAVol and other rumors are suggesting is true, and I absolutely believe they are, Currie better be having a plan NOW. Just the fact that Butch has let this happen (and it isn't the first time) shows that he is clearly in over his head. He isn't going to suddenly wake up and become a great game day coach! If it takes him being backed into a corner to suddenly let the right players play, better game planning etc, that's equally a problem because it's why he should have been doing all along as the head coach of our program.

Hard to put a price on the best staff in America.

Jumper hurt us more than Bituli did. Just another aspect of Butch and his puzzling personnel decisions.

There is usually no shame to losing in the swamp. It is how they lost. Losses like Saturday have eroded confidence in Butch and any passes he may have had are gone.

If you think he coaches tight now hang on.
