***IF***there is anything that could come from this press conference that may begin to heal these open wounds (or at least stop them from bleeding further), what must you hear?

For starters, I'd like to hear "After watching and rewatching the game film, every coach in that building, and it starts with me, is completely sick over the way we handled our red zone offense. We have to be better prepared to finish drives and pound the ball. And we will be better." and then I'd like to hear "We did a poor job of preparing our kids to defend the final play. We were too focused on preventing them from getting into to field goal range and we lost focus on preventing a touchdown. It is all on this staff, starting with me, and we won't let our players and fans down again."

Let's go Butch. Let's hear it.

I don't mean this towards you...but who gives a crap? He'll take a tiny bit of ownership, then he'll try to justify and validate all of the scientific and statistical reasons for what they were trying to do, all the while inferring and implying that the vast majority of Tennessee football fans don't have the aptitude to comprehend the reasons for his decisions.

Surely Mullen would take this job wouldn't he? I mean, he's at freaking MSU playing SEC west opponents weekly.

Who knows? It makes sense on paper for him to come here. But why the hell is he still in Starkville to begin with? He punched his ticket to go anywhere after 2014....but he's still in middle of nowhere Mississippi.

I think there's something going on with him that keeps him from being a legitimate candidate for most jobs.

I think it was LWS who said preseason that if Jones loses to Vandy again, he's done, regardless of who else he beats. So 8-4 might not be enough if the Dores are one of those four.

It's kinda odd he's still there

Interesting to see a pole of those rooting for us to lose to Vandy if that is the case.

Instead, neither occurred. They didn't look better than us (or even equal to us), and we didn't get out coached. We beat ourselves, mainly with poor play calling and bad execution on key plays.

My thoughts too.

I support the team that I love, and I'll support the coach until he is no longer here. Do I think he is perfect, no, far from it, but the team did have a very good chance to win this game, but bad play calling (at times), dropped TD passes, bad throws, bad penalties, etc... was the cause for this loss. Absolutely coaches need to take the majority of the blame in this loss, but the players should also take some accountability.

The only thing he could say that would make me happy is "I am not the guy for UT, I'm resigning immediately in order to help start the search for the right guy to create a championship team at this great University"

I hear ya, but I didn't ask for happy. Nothing he'll possibly say will make anyone happy.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that he and his family like the small town feel there. They don't care for the stresses at most typical SEC places. If I'm Currie I try to convince him that Knoxville is a small town utopia with a couple extra million.

Believe he would. He is ready to make his next move to bigger stage. He would tear it up with more resources.

It's the perfext scenario for him to take over Guarantano and Martinez.

Guy has had a heck of a run with these QBs... Alex Smith, Tebow, Dak and fitzgerald

He is a hero there. He can win 7/8 games each year with an occasional great win, and they love him. At this point, he isn't the victim of his own success in a way that Fulmer was. They don't view him that way.

If he comes to UT, he will need to win the East in 3 years. Coaches like stability. Why move when you are making nearly $5 million per year?

Never said I was leaving. But go ahead and post your snide remark.

I'll always support UT and be a fan, but forgive me for not being excited to spend money to watch a product that is unacceptable.

Just out of curiosity, how can you support UT and be a fan and be in full-blown apathy mode? They seem a little contradictory, on the surface.

Completely done with Butch at this point. Had held out hopes that he could "Dabo" it, surround himself with quality coaches and get it done.... Nope.

He's just dumb. I really think that's part of his game day struggles.

He gets pressured, gets confused, and makes bad decisions.

He needs to go.
