5 starters out for the year (with Evan Berry pending) through 3 games.

I feel like we are headed towards a catastrophic season with potentially no bowl game if the injuries keep up at this pace. Especially if we lose to UGA.

At least we'll be able to get our hopes up that maybe things will get better this time before we hire like Luke Fickell or something.

So what is a "significant" game to you guys?

I mean obviously we're not going to settle for a coach that comes in and beats Tennessee Tech, Indiana State, Appalachian State, some mediocre power 5 team, and then go 4-4 against the SEC, winning the worst games.

So what games are most significant to you guys?

To me:
Historically good OOC opponents, in nationally televised games like Oklahoma/Oregon.

Rivalry games, obviously. Florida, Georgia, Alabama. Does Vandy count?

Games where there's something significant at stake, like USC last year.

Anything I'm missing?

He has stepped up the success with wins against UGA twice, UF last year, and VTech and GTech. It is unfair for anyone to expect him to beat Oregon and Oklahoma in the first two years. He should have beaten Oklahoma in year three.

The problem is the ineptitude in play calling. If Dormady indeed checked out of the run play on 1st and goal, then he is not as smart as we need.

There is actually a chance for us to do well this year in the east because USC lost Samuel and Mizzou is terrible. We have UGA and Vandy to get through. But we just blew a great chance to win 9-10 games.

Interesting perspective from Mark Bradley of the AJC in this mornings paper:

"At game-planning, Butch Jones is the worst coach in the history of humankind. Does Tennessee ever take the field and do what it intends? Does it even show up before halftime? The Vols are gifted enough to wad up their alleged script and improvise their way back into games, but this remains a misguided aggregation that will win nothing of consequence."

Yep - we look like garbage until the natural talent of the players takes over.

Beautifully stated.

What is Butch's buyout? I've seen anywhere from 3 to 7.5.

Also, did something change with "likes"?

I can only like posts in certain threads.

The pressure is going to be on him every week now. I think him and the players will start to panic and its going to show. Hope I'm wrong. I hope especially for the players a leader steps up and says enough is enough we will no longer accept defeat. Georgia will be the test, then SC, then KY, then Mizz, then Vandy. It would be nice to get that one against LSU. They didn't look good against MSU either. The potential is there its time for the staff and players to step up and take it. But every week he is going to be coaching for his job and I don't know if they can handle the pressure.

You already know what's going to happen. LSU is going to be historically bad rolling into Neyland and we'll be even worse and give the game away.

There's no reason whatsoever to cheer against the Vols this year. I think Butch leaves no matter what, either by getting the axe or by actively seeking and getting another job.

8-4 or worse with a loss to Vandy and he's almost certainly fired. 8-4 with a Vandy win or better and he and Sexton hatch an exit strategy.

To be clear, there is literally NEVER a reason to cheer against the Vols EVER.

If Butch doesn't start JG, he will probably leave. Then the next coach will miss out on one of the most dynamic QB prospects to be at TN in a long time. What is he doing? QD doesn't offer anything

Then JG needs to show he's better. From what I have seen, I don't think he has yet.

He's thrown what? 10 passes? A couple of them were great throws but dropped. He can also run. What has QD shown to make anyone believe that he's better? His strength is as a passer and he isn't any good.

A non dual threat quarterback should NEVER be recruited for this offense. We have seen time and time and time again it doesn't work.

Finish 10-2 from here on out and show marked improvement and I will be fine with him being here and getting extension. 9-3 with lets say losses to UGA and Bama I would not be happy but I would understand an extension. 8-4 or lower and I think we need to kick the tires on something new

I guess I'm in a small minority. I still think we finish in the 7-5 to 9-3 range. I think we're a pretty good team, and the coaches (while clearly not elite) have proven they are good enough to keep us in that range.

We were at this exact point in 2015 after the Arkansas game, and then won 12 of our next 13 ball games if I recall correctly, and nearly beat Bama in Tuscaloosa.

Butch outing Dormady in his presser is a coach scrambling to deflect the heat.

He should just say we screwed up. It's my fault.

Placing blame on a college player publicly is never a good idea. Arkansas coach did this to his kicker recently. Bad bad look
