Trying to run the opponent out of TOs is playing not to lose. We played to win there which is exactly what should have happened if we catch the ball.

Managing the clock is not playing not to lose. It is managing the clock. Butch cannot do it. Cannot.

He loses to Georgia fire his rear end. Slap the interim tag on Shoop and let's get a coaching search fired up.

Even if he gets boat-raced, you don't fire him at this point. You fire him then and name an interim, and every commit could very well leave. You keep him and you still lose some commits, but some do stay.

If it takes a 7-5 or 6-6 season to get him out of here then so be it. I'd rather that happen than us to 8-4 with losses to the big four. Feel exactly how I did in 2012.

I can never cheer against us. Never. Even if it means we get stuck with somebody another year.

Making coaching decisions based on one recruiting class is how we ended up with Derek Dooley. It is without question the most short-sighted reason to keep a coach.

There's no reason whatsoever to cheer against the Vols this year. I think Butch leaves no matter what, either by getting the axe or by actively seeking and getting another job.

8-4 or worse with a loss to Vandy and he's almost certainly fired. 8-4 with a Vandy win or better and he and Sexton hatch an exit strategy.

I dont see your point

You said that may have been the worst Florida team we have ever played. Just a little dramatic. It wasn't a great team, but they have been worse in my lifetime, and I am not that old.

That's the point. Let's not make everything absolute.

With the new early signing period it really needs to happen mid season. You have to have the new coach in place to start lining up his assistants and start the recruiting process. The timeline for hiring has been pushed up with the new rule.

NO reason not to root the team on then.

No way Currie is extending Butch at this point barring a 10-2 finish (LOL).

So Butch basically knows he is coaching to save face and get out of dodge without a stain on his resume.

He goes 8-4 he can always play the turnaround card and that he went 8-4 when expectations from media were low this season and people still weren't happy and not look like a total loser.

I think that firing in the middle of the season is worse, but I would not be broken-hearted if it happened, if he does not right the ship against Georgia.

Ah, I forgot about that. Good point.
