JAV responding to a question about Wiggins

"Wiggins, based on what I know, won't be on the field anytime soon for Tennessee"

Ill pull away from my body pillow long enough to say its sounds like a Coach Warren/Wiggins issue to me. Warren does not go for entitlement.

This might be the most baffling of all the personnel decisions to me. Surely he is not that bad. Do you think he clashes with Warren? (that is rife speculation with no foundation in fact, FYI)

Edit: Swanson'd by Newt.

I think y'all nailed it.

Also, this defense isn't going to force many turnovers due to the off-man coverage, IMO. I feel like Wiggins could be helpful out there, but nobody is going to suddenly light it up with multiple picks while we play 8-yards off the receivers every snap.

Wiggins was All ACC corner, right? But he's not playing over Martin? I appreciate the hustle play by him at the end of the game, but that's literally the only good thing I can remember him doing at TN.

Ok, maybe a 7.

ROFL. Ya, woth how bad we've been at corner, no reason Wiggins and even Byrd shouldn't be seeing PT. We have even played an average qb or WR yet, let alone good ones. We're going to get torched in the air once we go against a good qb or WR.

It was maddeing to start that game. You have a young QB, and you give him an 8 yard cushion for nice easy throws. They march right down the field.

This. Franks is arguably the worst qb we'll face, and we gave him so many easy throws to get into rhythm and build confidence.

This D is all about a bend-don't-break mentality, with the main goal being don't allow big plays. With the amount of big plays we allowed last year, I see why they've changed it up. But we could really struggle once we start playing teams that look for quick screens a lot, especially considering how poor our secondary is at tackling in the open field (save for Gaulden/Warrior).

I wonder if QD throwing a better ball to Kelly and him catching it for that short TD changes the out come of the game. I wonder if UF would have been able to score a TD with our Defense knowing they can't allow a TD.

Of course it does. We win and all would be forgiven here.

I can forgive all of the mistakes in the game except the third quarter sequence from the 1 yard line. I think if we had lined up and ran the ball 4 straight times using all of the biggest, strongest players on our team and Florida stuffed us every time, I would be more willing to forgive the outcome of the game. But I can't get over trying to finesse our way into the end zone. We severely over-thought that whole debacle.

We probably win the game. But its hard to criticize Kelly for anything after that game.

Exactly my stance

That and not running at the end of the game is what makes me the most mad

Kelly was gassed after carrying the team on his back all game.

And he shouldn't have had to. We should have won the game easily. We could have won that game by 4 touchdowns. Coaching let us down. There is no doubt about it. The reason we are always in games like this is coaching. With a top coach, we blow Florida out 3 straight years, GA two straight years, OU in 2015, we beat Bama in 2015, etc. Coaching is why we continually find ourselves in these games. Just like App state last year and GT this year. There is no reason why a team as talented as we are should be in these games. We are as talented as Clemson. This is coaching.
