Question...

In your opinion, what would Butch have to do to win over the fanbase and prove that Saturday was a fluke?

I'm going to say that he has to win out for the rest of the regular season, make it to Atlanta (not win, per say) and win a bowl game.

Seriously.

What say you, RF?

Win the SEC championship

LA Vol do you think Currie/boosters would tell Butch it's the division title or you're gone? Or something along those lines? Surely the boosters or at least some of them are livid about these games slipping away year after year.

Mississippi State beats UGA this weekend and we're right back in it. I'd take UK over UF too please. Hope we see 2 Saturday.

It's sad that in year 5 we still have to rely on other teams losing to even have a sniff in winning the East.

Instead of you know.....just taking care of business.

Let's say we win out the rest of our games except Bama (and we lose that one in similar fashion as UF)

We don't win the SEC East and miss out by one game or a tiebreaker.

Keep Butch?

It's sad that we start every season counting Bama as an automatic loss. It would be nice if we could at least head into the season knowing we could compete with them and have a close game.

Gotta have top 5 overall talent, a great coaching staff, a stud QB, or a ridiculous amount of luck (Ole Miss 2014 and 2015) to pull it off. Sometimes all of the above.

No. I think CBJ knows the goal is to win the division this year-- as it was last year. Currie is on record saying that is the expectation, so that's his benchmark. But there's no way of knowing what he'll do-- or how quickly he'll do it-- if the expectation isn't met.

Some boosters would fire CBJ right now; others would keep him another year even if he backslides. The boosters don't speak as one-- as we saw with the AD search.

We have had to do that in every single year since the existence of the SEC championship game except for one.

Gonna be an interesting rest of the season....

I realize we won't be the favorite in the game for years to come, but it's penciled in as a loss, while we just hope that it isn't embarrassing. Even if we don't win, I'd really like it to be competitive.

If we didn't have to play Alabama, we could still be in the hunt. But thats an auto loss every year. Makes it nearly impossible to win the East...

(Except last year when we gave it away)

Agreed on pretty much all points. Except I don't think any of the offenses we play are great. Bama looks good and UGA should be pretty decent. Outside of that, I don't see a good offense on the schedule.

I think that most or all have some playmakers that we will have to contain. I do agree, though, not any great offenses.

For me?

8-1 rest of the way with a loss to Bama

Would be hilarious if Miss St and Auburn turned out to be the best teams in the SECW, right there with Bama. UGA's path to ATL would be much harder.

Still think the UT-UGA game could end up deciding the East. I could see UF dropping a lot of SEC games. What would be really funny is if there's gridlock for #1, and it goes down the tiebreaker chart to overall wins. UT might be the only team without an OOC L-- if UGA loses to GT and UF loses to Michigan and FSU.

Yep. And I'd still be mad we choked the UF game away. UGA probably won't lose 2 sec games if they don't lose to MSU. Auburn has not looked good, and they'll beat UF like a drum. I don't think we can expect to win the east this year without quite a bit of help.

Auburn has looked really bad to me. Even against Mercer.

And I think playoff committee ranking is now the tiebreaker, not OOC record right?

It won't happen, but if it did, then yes, you have to keep him.
