Read the whole thread. He's pretty determined. Even that the SEC wouldn't move the game to a different location.

That would then disqualify both of us from SEC title game chances because we don't share a bye week and our cupcakes the other has an SEC game.

Guess it's all a guessing game until we see what actually happens in the next few days.

No way the SEC allows that to happen. Punish two teams from contention because of a storm? Look, I've grown up in hurricanes. What Miami sees and what Gainesville will see isn't even close. It'll be a cat 1 at best in Gainesville. don't look at Harvey and Katrina footage and transpose it to north Florida.

If it takes it's current track of the entire state, it'll dip pretty rapidly with virtually little hot water to strengthen it. We will play. LWS doesn't know **** about it.

And he might be two years from having another competition. It's a shame our coach has to publicly cater to him by promising playing time. Backup QBs shoudnt be promised anything. Jones trying to make sure he isn't at a Jc next week which is very possible. Wouldn't blame him at all.

I thought tracking up the middle of the state it would lose strength. Didn't know how fast though. Isn't Florida built for Hurricanes though. The swamp lands etc

Yeah that's what I was saying it'll have no hot water. Hot water strengthens hurricanes. sorry for the confusion. Florida construction code is designed to take hurricanes. Some won't make it of course but Gainesville probably won't be hit hard. these hurricanes usually die quicker than projections

The thing is, just like every other topic we talk about on here, no one really KNOWS what JG was promised or wasn't promised.

Butch may have said "hey, we get a lead and I'm gonna swap you guys out." Or "if the game is tight I plan on switching you guys out for a different look".. could have been literally anything or he could have told him nothing.

But regardless of what may have been said or wasn't, football is a little like life. You plan one thing and something changes so you have to do something else or a different way. If I sat on my rear and sulked every time I had to change plans I would never get anything done, regardless of what I was told would happen. It's called life.. grow up, suck it up and drive on.

I don't care if Butch told him he would play every game this year. It's Butch's job in the line, his record. If he thinks QD gives him the best chance to win then go with it regardless of who's feelings it hurts. Like the old saying goes, "it ain't personal it's businesss"."

Bruin, just STFU, you're talking out of your rear again about something you know nothing about. I don't know what fairy tale world you live in but life is rarely fair. You earn and take what you want from it.. not what you think you deserve or even "promised".

If the kid transfers after one game then he will never be the leader we need him to be. Personally, I hope the kid sticks it out but if not then I hope he isn't a distraction.

I'm downing the direction of it. Sinking fast.

Talent level still very high and they've managed to get into the east two years in a row.

You want to move the goal posts. "4th most draft picks is solid but not as good as Florida. But we don't need to aspire to be them."

Move the goalposts much? Bet the tech kicker wishes you moved the posts so he could hit one.

So you would need the goal post set on 10yd line with the crossbar lowered to about 3' off the ground.

:)

Exactly. If he is dejected to the point of transferring after one game, which I doubt and hope is not true, he doesn't have a whole lot of heart and probably would never reach his full potential.

Nate Peterman stayed a few years before he made a decision.

Their situations have nothing in common other than their position.

Which is the most important thing. Talented QBs can't afford to sit for three years. If that is what is staring them in the face they owe it to their future to transfer. It's very different than other positions.

I'm sorry but if this is the case don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you want to be the man then win the job. If you can't beat out Dormady either wait your turn or work harder on the field and film room

In cases like this I tend to assume I don't know the whole story - and likely never will - but I think most people will agree with John Adams statement at the closse of this article.

Jones was asked at Wednesday’s press conference whether Guarantano had expected to play against Georgia Tech and whether the course of the game caused Jones to stick with Dormady.

“The message is always the same,” Jones said. “You’re always one snap away, and you have to be ready.

“It’s really the first time he’s been in that situation. And really, Quinten went through the same thing behind Josh. Sometimes you’re antsy; you’re ready to play; you’re going through everything in your mind. But you’re always one snap away.”

Nothing wrong with the one-snap-away philosophy. However, it’s important how that message is delivered to players, particularly quarterbacks.

Former UT quarterback Tony Robinson said Tuesday that he spoke to Guarantano and encouraged him. He got the impression that Guarantano thought he was going to play and was disappointed when he didn’t get the chance.

If Jones told Guarantano to be ready, that’s fine. But there’s a fine line between convincing a quarterback that he needs to be ready and making him believe that he will play.

When Tennessee’s offense was struggling early, you could have made a case for trying Guarantano at quarterback to see whether he could provide a spark. Instead, Jones stuck with Dormady. It wasn’t necessarily an easy decision, but the outcome proved that Jones made the right call.

Keeping a backup quarterback content can be a challenge for any coach. You also should appreciate the challenge facing a backup quarterback, though.

A competitor should be upset when he doesn’t play. But in the heat of battle, he has to conceal that disappointment and put his team first.

On a side note - How many QBs did we have at the game? Peyton, Heath, Condredge, Joshua, Tony, and I assume Erik was there. I would have had a impossible task of picking a starter. I would probably go with Tony but obviously I like Condredge too. Joshua would have had a field day with the GT defense. Heath would have hurt people. It's a tough call. If I pick Tony (which I sort of want to do) do the other guys get pissed and transfer? I figure Erik is the one most likely to end up doing something stupid.

Very interesting post by a GT poster in the FF:

------------------------------
As a GT fan, I rather like that other fans don't like the offense. Means there's less chance of someone making a run at hiring CPJ.

As far as it being boring this past game, that's mostly UT's fault. You were running the mike presnap out to take the pitch based on a motion read, and lining up your interior linemen a yard back to keep them clean of a backside cut. That was entirely to negate the "triple option" play, one of a bunch of plays we run. So we quit calling it. Switched to called dives to take advantage of that interior vacancy, counters, and stuff out of the belly series, and double option stuff that could reliably get 6 or 7 yards against that formation but wasn't likely to pop anything long. Still popped a few. Still had our shots downfield too - if we complete the last one that went through our guys fingers (play before the fumble) we'd a won the game outright.

It's a "take what they give you" thing. Can't complain about us taking 6 a play when you guys were giving us 6 a play. In the end it worked out in your favor because you managed to generate a couple turnovers. If you weren't crashing the pitch then you'd have more TOP because we'd be able to score on longer plays.
-----------------------------------

There was a method to our madness but for whatever reason we didn't adjust after GT changed tactics.

hopefully Shoop does a better job moving forward... We had a ton of injuries last year, but just from game one, he's made some questionable decisions...

He says JG won't run in practice which is just bizarre. He also said to look for him to go to a JUCO. I don't buy it either but I do know he has some media friends and is sometimes right.

If JG jumps (which I don't think he will), then we go full throttle at Felix, explaining he can come in and be playing sooner than later (Do we have an entrepreneur major?)... the other programs after him can't bring that truly at this point I think... Either way, there are several Dual-threats out there still on the market.

Have we backed off Felix?

Feel bad for Berry. Achilles injuries suck. Dude will be a warrior and come back better than before, just like he did with the Lymphoma. Hate it for him though.

Point is I wouldn't blame him for leaving. No one should

Well maybe it's OK for a player to continue to shop himself after committing by transferring (I don't like it, but maybe the rules allow it), but transferring when one has championship aspirations because one is not getting playing time is not the way to march toward this goal, blame or no blame.

Anyone ever go to a game all by yourself? I think I'm going to the game tomorrow without anyone to sit with. It's going to feel strange.

Well.. if it's gonna ruin the game experience for you just buy my ticket and I'll meet ya there.. 😀😀
