And you didn't throw any mustard?!?! Didn't give your all imoWas at the game. Our secondary was slaw, but the refs were abysmal as usual. The back to back PI calls on us in the fourth were unforgivable. The first one was PI on us. The second was offensive PI and it was plain. Purdue was holding us allllll friggin afternoon and not one call. They "offsetting" personal fouls in the first half and the other personal foul on the same play that they completely missed. And then finally the absolute garbage call on our TD in OT. They let plays continue all game for longer than they should and let the resulting extra yards stand. All of the sudden we are supposed to understand that they had a meeting and decided to stop forward progress sooner than they had? Shoot. We had their player wrapped up and stopped and they let him continue running another 50 yards for a TD! The refs inserted themselves into this game and I can't stand it when refs do that.
I already told one guy and I’ll tell you too: someone made a deal with the devil and this was a result of said deal. It’s the only thing that makes sense.Would the correct call have been made at the end and we win then the yahoos on here saying we could have done more to win wouldn’t be saying that. Even the minority of talkings heads with that take wouldn’t be saying that. The narrative would be we showed fight and overcame adversity.
At the end of the day we got jobbed, it’s plain as day.
This always seems to happen and I wonder at what point we start talking conspiracy and something nefarious. It literally makes no sense they way that whole game was officiated.
Nobody from UT will say anything publicly. They never do. At most, UTAD will send a polite letter to the SEC noting their grievances, Sankey will ignore it and the inept officiating, bias and look-the-other-way nonsense will continue as it has for years. The SEC wants member institutions to take their multi-millions, shut up and support the gravy train that keeps everyone fat and happy. And UT seems to be content to do exactly that.
WB gets flagged Bc he plays with bad technique and is constantly out of phase.Going back and watching some of it again - defense was slaw, but no way that QB throws for 500+ without the one-sided PI penalties. Burrell has issues to work on but he couldn’t even touch the WR without getting flagged and their DB’s were draped on ours all night. Purdue was counting on this and it played into their strategy.
We could have done more to win, but you can say that about any loss. The officiating was horrible, infuriating, and frankly, inexcusable.
That's why this happens to Tennessee. That doesn't excuse the terrible mistakes made. Imo the only chance for it to stop is to publically go after the ACC, SEC, etc on officiating issues to get the changes needed.Unpopular opinion - there’s nothing to be said. Defense was sunseri level bad & predictable.., play calling & clock management we’re off. Just a poor performance
My stance on refs is pretty simply. They are all mediocre. It’s not their primary profession so it’s impossible to expect them to be experts. That's why this happens to Tennessee. Absolutely! I’ll say this… I’m sick and tired of being quiet about it. I want white and Heupel to be public about it and if we are fined, then we will make a go fund me to pay it.That's why this happens to Tennessee. That doesn't excuse the terrible mistakes made.
